Is a k3 gonna sound right mounted under my tool box? Its loud but dont know if it will be loudwr anywhere else
Well… depends what you mean by “sound right”.
Will it sound like a K3 - Yes
Will it sound muffled - Yeah… more than likely. The amount of dampening will depend on the wall thickness of the box.
If you’re going through the expense of mounting an Airchime, it’s best to let it breath properly I reckon. You’ll get far more enjoyment from it. I had mine being blocked by a bash plate underneath the car and even though it was fairly open it was still a huge difference after I took the plate away and let the horns project the sound out onto the road.
Welcome to the forum.
Its mounted under the box facing the tailgate, its a long bed as well do u think that will give it room to breath?
Got any pics or video of it in action?
Not yet, im still trying to decide where i wanna permanently mount them. Right now the tank and air compressor are in the tool box. Im gonna have to make some kinda mounting bracket to put them under the truck where i want them to keep busy hands from stealing them
Is there any room under the vehicle? That would probably be your best bet.
That mounting location is on my list of possible places also for a K3. My only worry is they wont be jeard infront of the vehile at any distance…

Oh they will be heard ,my k5 is under the front of the truck and when its blown its so loud its hard to tell where its coming from.
Mounted under a toolbaox facing the rear is perfectly fine.

Plus I had mine aimed basically right at the tailgate:
Thanks for the link to that thread, after seeing those pics I’m afraid my high mount manifold won’t fit underneath, gotta go and look now…
