Horn blasters 540 XL kit arrived

No those wires going to pin 2 are what’s often referred to as trigger wires since all the will do is energize a small coil (inside the solenoid or relay). There is very little electrical load required to do so.

Where you do need the heavy gauge wire is the power and ground wire of the compressor (I.e. the white & red on the HB switch, and the black ground coming out of the compressor)

ok today I basically spent a good chunk of my time planning my setup. I think I finally got it figured out. I do have a couple of questions:

can the air tank be mounted with the 4 ports (90’ quick connect what size 1/2"?, Pressure gauge, drain cock, blank) facing downwards? Its the only way I can build a custom brace off of my rear bumper and still accommodate room for the compressor. Also is it ok to mount the compressor sideways? I heard that you dont wanna install it upside down but wanted to hear from your guys first.

You don’t want all your outgoing ports facing down - especially not the pressure switch! You will get water accumulation in the tank (that’s what the drain is for) and you don’t want any of that liquid to go either back towards your compressor or the pressure switch.

my thoughts exactly. The Pressure switch with all the wires are going to be facing forward on the lone port which if mounted upright is top port. the side with the 4 ports is facing down on my setup with quick connect, PSI gauge for now until I run it into my cab, drain cock and safety valve. The side are occupied by the air compressor and solenoid. My main concern is whither or not the air compressor can be mounted side ways on the frame. If I need to make a shelf for it or bracket then I’ll have to do it. If not I’ll mount it side ways to save me some time. The actual planning is whats taking the longest.

Compressor direction is a guideline only. Ideally for best thermal dissipation the cooling fins on the head (where it gets the hottest) should be the highest point (i.e. facing up).

Seen plenty of installs though where people have mounted them upside down without issues.

Something else to think about when mounting your compressor, I had a customer install his sideways, it all worked fine, except a year later I rebuilt it for him as it had worn on one side & not evenly, suffice to say it is now mounted upright & flat now;)
