We got alot of snow recently and I thought the slush clogged me up. Well now it’s 60 outside and I’m only honking on 3 or less horns and sounds terrible. 1) how do I see if and what’s clogging them? 2) what do I do to fix this? Thanks bros
Welcome. You might want to check your air lines for glogs. Moisture should have thawed with it being 60 degrees but who knows what else could be there. Check the horns for diaphram damage too.
Ok thanks! I only have one air line and the rest of the horns honk. Would I have to unmount them to check them out? The way it’s set up is under my truck bed facing the rear in front of my back right tire. So in reverse the tire just throws water or snow into them
I don’t know how to check the diaphrams, my expertise is compressors not horns. What knowledge I have comes from forums. I suggest getting covers for your horns to prevent debris from getting into them while driving around. I don’t know if the covers prevent horn operation. The other guys on this forum are better for answering that.
Drain your tank an check for water
Yeah I drained the tank a few times. I fill it up then drain it. It’s still very loud just high pitched. Not the deep train sound
Depending on the size horns u have if u run too much psi once they get broke in they can become higher pitch if u run too much psi
If u have to high psi u could’ve blown a diaphragm??
I have heard that but my compressor shuts off at 100 psi. I know I seem like a noob with this but about a month ago I put them on and it worked perfect. 3 weeks ago the snow came and now just high pitched horns. Still scares people but not what I’m looking for. I appreciate the help
Could you have broken a frozen diaphram?
im having the same issue but no snow in Miami. I bled the line the other day on some a hole that cut me off and didnt touch the horn again. Today I only have high pitch horn as well. I am pretty sure mine is diaphragm damage and would love a how to on checking/fixing them.
Well if it is a diaphragm how do I go about checking/fixing it??
Take the back off of the horn… its just a couple bolts then there will probably be 2 flat metal diaphrams with a rubber ring between them.
had this sort of problem a few months ago. i took the horns off, checked the diaphragms. they were good so i hooked the horns up to my shop air tank and just let um go for about 2 min and u could hear them slowly working out their kinks and now they are louder than ever. this was a leslie rs3l set of horns. if you do have crap in ur horns just a small blast or 2 may not blow it out. just an idea for ya.
Thanks alot! I’ll wait til it warms up a bit n give this a shot
