Horns in very cold weather???

It’s been pretty cold lately 0-20 degrees in the AM. Lately I’ve noticed that my compressor won’t fill my tank when it is frigid out. It just runs and runs but my pressure gauge doesn’t change and no air is being added to the tank. When it gets above 32 degrees it will gradually start working again. Obviously something is freezing up but I’m not sure how to avoid this issue. Has anyone else up north experienced this and is there anything I can do to fix the issue? I do have a slight leak which means I have to top it off every morning. Thanks

Prolly the check valve in the leader hose, or a froze open valve somewhere.

Ok thanks. I think you’re probably right about the check valve. I must have moist in the tank but it’s been too cold to drain it.

airline antifreeze

ditto, add a little antifreeze to your tank the next time you let all the pressure out.

If possible, position the compressor so that water drains out of the leader hose & into the tank. At least water won’t sit on the check valve.

Ive had this happen past couple years i had the compressor… This year tho my leader hose blew apart (literally rusted inside out and exploded)… So i replaced it and now i dont have a issue with it freezing anymore . I’m worried what antifreeze would do to the rubber seals , especially in the solenoid valve. Once that thing starts to eat away and a pinhole develops, back pressure leaves and the valve opens creating a nonstop blowing horn… I’m talking from experiencing this
