I have a set of Nathan K3L’s I installed last year. They are mounted on my truck with a remote mounting kit (not using the stock manifold). About a month ago they started acting funny, I have one that sounds right when I hit the button but the other 2 dont sound right away, they take a few seconds before they work.
They worked great up until then. All three air lines are about the same length from my homemade pipe manifold. the manifold is mounted right after the valve.
Any idea on where to start looking for a problem?
Im afraid it might be in the horns themselves and I might have to take them apart, does that mean I would have to by new gaskets or seals or whatever is inside them?
If you live in an area where the weather gets cold the air lines could have fozen water in them. A capful of antifreeze in the tank before it gets cold helps to eliminate that problem.
I’d be checking the airlines going to the separate horns for kinks. I’d place my $ on them being twisted / kinked / just enough to resist the air temporarily and then when pressure forces open the chime sounds .
Lots of good advice. Now I need to find an opportunity to look into it. Ill check air lines, the rig something up to hook them up to the compressor hose. But I am half tempted to take the backs off and inspect them first before I start messing with my fittings. Unless my valve isnt opening all the way? 1/2" valve not opening all the way restrict the air enough to cause this?
