horns on headache rack

first of all id like to say this looks like a good forum and im glad i can be a part of it!

a year ago i bought some cheesy maximus train horn setup, and im ready to upgrade to a real setup.

i have a headache rack on my truck, and i was thinking if i notch the cross piece down a little bit, i can mount a k3l to it, and it will sit nice and low to the top of the cab. i figure if i paint them the same color as my truck they wont be THAT noticeable.

what do you all think about this scheme?

i currently have a ten gallon tank and dual 480c’s at 145 psi.

Yup. It can be done. Or make a small horn mount out of a small piece of plate steel. and possible a pipe flange also you can threw bot it and and run air line underneath witha small pipe nipple.

Good Luck,

John

exactly what i was thinking. im just worried itll be really noticeable, which it probably will be.

maybe my 7" stacks will hide them a bit haha

Just be careful pulling into a parking garage!

yeah. will making this roof mount be worth it? i want these horns to be as loud and heard as far away as possible

I think you may get some unwanted attention from the PD and thieves.

theives im not worried about i live in a small hick town, and the kids in our area just break windows and throw eggs at stuff. i dont think they could figure out how to use a wrench.

would the sound be significantly louder if i mounted it on the roof, versus mounting it on the outside face of the passengers side frame rail, angling downward?

Yes, they would be unobstructed, therefore louder…

but how much louder are we lookin? i have a maximus train horn right now and its decently loud, but its under my truck. is the k3la still gonna be nice and disturbingly loud even if its under my truck?

^yes

hell yeah…

Yeah, you need to get on YouTube. There’s a guy on there dualing horns with a real train, and you know that P.O.'ed the conductor … heheheheheheheheh.
