How does this happen?

Hiya all HB forum members.
I have my Nathan K3LA horns off for a cleanup and service. I was wondering just how this messy and mouldy powder gets into the diaphragms?

Hey Keith,

That buildup you’re seeing is pretty common when moisture makes its way into the air system and settles inside the horn. Over time, especially without a water trap or regular tank draining, that moisture can cause aluminum oxidation, which leads to the white, crusty corrosion in your bells. It’s a good idea to clean it all out thoroughly and inspect the diaphragms while you’re in there.

Adding an air dryer or inline filter and staying on top of maintenance can really help prevent this from happening again.

Thank you kindly for a detailed explanation. An inline moisture filter will be added. :+1:
