I don’t know. My RS-5-T plays a lower note than my K3LA and I can hear it alot farther away.
Yeah but that leslie is a beasty horn. I mean, its got more reach than any nathan if you ask me.
My K5LA has been heard from like 5 to 6 miles away if its a real quiet night!!
Well a Leslie RS5T is a beastly horn. And has a deep sound. K3 much higher tone. Depends on the Doppler effect. I can here horns from over 10 miles away on a good night. Mostly on a quiet winter evening. Also depends on the winds. Now I have a big azz steam whistle that can be heard in the next town away. LOL!
With the way mine is mounted, I can almost get a mile, but thats not on a quiet night though. On a quiet night, im much too scared to blow unless im in a tunnel.
Was on the phone with my sister, blew my RS-5T about 4 miles from her house, about 18 seconds later she heard it, and thought I was maybe a mile away! Full orifices, 3/4" air line and fittings, 10 gallons, 2 480s, 200 psi downregulated to 140 with a 140 cfm regulator.
Man, but THATS A LESLIE !!! lol. Those creatures are nothin to play with. The shake the ground for crying out loud.
HORN ON!!!
when im out bow hunting early, we get out before the sun is up. sitting in my tree stand in complete silence, i can hear the CP rail K3L blasting away, and the tracks are 7 miles from our location.
the cold, wet air makes the sound travel alot easier…i love how a horn sounds when its at least 4 miles away
I think you GOTTA have your horns exposed to get that kinda range. Mine are all discreet. When I blow in the tunnel, I have freaked my co workers out at the light about a 1/4 mile up the road. Ive scared people on the next street over. And when Im downtown in between the buildings, I see brake lights at least a 6-7 blocks up after I blow.
Mine arent exposed and i still get a ton of distance with them
Yeah but not NEAR as much as you would with them in the open.
That’s the truth. I thought I was doing myself a favor by having them in the grille. I can’t imagine how you would horn someone in front of you with the horn in the spare tire well. But the way people tailgate, I wish I had one in the back too.
Mine are directly in the front pointing forward, and there not like there completely covered so there is almost no sound loss if any
mine are right up top!
@jconey1412 - what do you drive? To me they make the most sense up front. But, I want one on the back too for the tailgaters.
I drive a 08 silverado, the k5 fits absolutely perfect between the frame rails in the front pointing directly forward. if you have a tailgater they will def be able to hear them even if they are up front.
did u ever by that billet grille i told u about??
@jconey- I know they Will hear it. I just don’t like innocently blasting the people in front and on the side for. The idiot behind me.
