How much is too much

Dumb question #1

I see HB sells horn upgrade kits. These appear to include 1/2" line, a 1/2" valve and some ptc fittings. These kits just upgrade the line and valve, right? Alternatively, do they upgrade the horn too? Because my Shocker S4 set has 5/16" running from the manifold to each horn.

Dumb question #2

The salesman set me up with a HB 110-150 pressure switch and I am wondering if it is safe to upgrade to a 165-200 switch. The reason is at any given time I’m sitting at the low end of that range and sounding my horns with only, for example, 120 psi in the tank. That has to effect the sound quality. The Shockers have a rated max operating pressure of 217 psi at 68 degrees temp. That could be exceeded a bit in the heat of the Mississippi summer, but I wouldn’t think by much. The max burst pressure is listed alterately as 950psi and 650psi. I think this was a typo and they meant to list the air temp, but even if the burst pressure turns out to be 650 psi, it seems to be a comfortable margin for safety.

How bout it? Anybody running their Shockers at 200psi?

Dumb question #3

Can you repair the diaphrams on Shockers like with the Nathans, or are they ruined if I blow a diaphram?

i would get rid of that 5/16 and make it 1/2 inch.
yes u can run shockers at 200psi…it will change sound to little more higher pitch sound tho…or u could run ur tank up to 200psi and get a regulator for 150psi so thats what ur horns blow at…alot of people do that…
and your horns have life time warranty on them i believe…so check to see what that covers…

According to HB, anything over 150psi voids the warranty, so I guess I would need a regulator.

Also, HB doesn’t carry the manifold or fittings to get rid of the 5/16", so I have to look for another supplier.

150 is good
