How to mount them under truck bed? Security bolts?

Ok I’m that close 2 buying a set I just gotta wait for money 2 go from bank 2 paypal as this account has a max $500 a day limit. It’s a 3 day process grrr

I’m getting k5la’s with dual 444c’s and a 8 gal tank.

How big will this tank be? 24x12" u know it will vary.

Now I’m putting it on my 96 hilux (u yanks know them as Toyota tameras) know how to u mount them to the bed of the truck were the spare wheel goes. What size bolts and are there any security options available. I’m tempted to wrap a few loops chain (coated bike lock stuff) just 2 be sure.

Compressors/tank will cab go into a 48x18x18 tool box if it will fit.

Also would like the possibility of a quick release mech or such for airlines so I can unbolt horns and remove them when I go 4wding.

I dont know the actual sizes of the tank but to give you an idea, this is how I mounted my K3’s & 8.5G tank with twin comps in my Hilux.

Looks great man! I like the setup alot and the leds

Cheers mate. But how does the horn mount to the truck bed I thought they had a flange with air supply up the middle.

Yea I’ve looked at the hb 8.5gal tank and I should fit it in tool box easy as

Yeahhhh theres a flange with 4 bolt holes and the air supply in the middle.

I made a box section up and mounted mine on that.

Cheers I Prrsume there plain hole not threaded. So what size are bolts I might have a look at security bolts

I used security headed bolts and thread locker. Also I attached my airline to the side port on the manifold instead of to the port on the bottom. You can take a look through my install thread for pics.

ive had a look at your install a few quetions. do u think the horn sounds muffled or any thing pointing towards diff, fuel tank ect.
whats it sound like in the cab?
how doe steh GW valve attach to some thing. as on my a pillar i have some threaded mounts that could be used.
i have a home made center console in a single cab ute so there is 0 room fo rit there. no room beside seat next to door has my fat oven thake sup 2 much room and i dont wan it to go off ever time i hop in or out.

It’s not muffled, those horns are SO loud it’d be hard to muffle them. Imagine putting some obstacles in front of the same horns on a real train…you’d still hear it. You can hear the horn in the cab of course, and it’s even louder if the windows are down. Often it scares my passengers if they don’t know it’s coming!

I don’t have my manual valve hooked up yet, but when I do I will attach it to my center console between my seat and the console.

Scaring your own passengers…LOL

There is o room 4 me 2 mount a valve there :frowning: what mounts does a gw valve have.

Yea I kinda thought it’s going to be f off loud either way. Just hopeing my horns are here in 2 weeks

Happens all the time! I’ll honk and watch them shake, then I hear “Damn dude!” haha

Look at a pic of one. It has a couple holes that you bolt through from one side to the other.

cheers yea i saw them but want sure if they were for mounting or resesed screw/bolts.

The 2 holes go all the way through.
Hey, keep in mind they make vertical handles for the GW valve.
Maybe it would give you different mounting options.

meh a little bit of angle it will do the job im having enough trouble getting basic parts

The way I mounted my tank to the bottom side of the bed is with Carriage bolts (Rounded on the head, no way to grab with a wrench) and cut square holes in the bed (start off round holes and use a file to get the right size)… I don’t think I’ll ever have a problem with the tank being stolen. As far as the horns go… I got a 1/4" steel plate and mounted that to the place where the spare tire used to be, mounted the airchime manifold to it and used 1/2" airline to each side (using 2 ports on the tank for the airchimes) with reducer fittings to fit the 3/8" holes on the manifold.

I don’t have pictures of that install yet, but if I remember to get some I’ll post them.
