I need your direction...

Hello to all,
First off, sorry if I’m not doing this right. You have a first timer here! Been following for sometime and trying to build my kit.

I need your help deciding,
I contacted hornblasters and got a quote for a couple different setups,
I am going with the 548 air system because I want the constant duty air compressor and 5 gal tank for other hobbies besides just the train horn.

As far as horns go, its between the classic shockers (4 horn set up) or they told me they would do the two longer horns out of the shockers (instead of the rocker setup) with the 3/8" valve. Overall I will save $100 if I go with the latter…

What do I do? money is tight…the extra money will help me set it up how i want with the digital gauge and what not. I have listened to the video with the two longer horns of the shockers hooked up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-ZufqMcv1c which i dont mind the sound, a little harder to tell since it is under the bridge tho.

Other tid bits I plan on doing,
Air Zenith digital gauge
colehersee 9109 momentary pull switch http://www.colehersee.com/home/item/cat/133/9109/
I plan on running the horns at 150 psi
I also plan on placing the valve a little farther away from the horns to try to get a lil bit of a roll on and off.

I look forward to what you thing, thanks a bunch!!

Welcome to the forum. The shockers sound as close to real train horns as you can get. I don’t know what you’ll get with the other 2 horns.

If you like the tone just get the 2 horns. Don’t worry, they’ll be loud. Save a couple bux.

The 4 horns have that distinct locomotive sound, while the 2 are more of a big semi truck horn. IMO if you are going to place the valve some distance away to have a trailing in-out effect it would sound better with all 4 horns…but the choice is completely yours…everybody has a slightly different set up…don’t forget, you can always add the other 2 horns at a later time when you want to upgrade.

If it were me, save up just a little bit more and go for the four.

Also, use a manual valve for the trailing effect, you can’t beat it!

Where in Idaho are you?

I’d be willing to show you my setup if you’re in the Boise area.
