I still can't get over how good United Pacific horns sound.

These things sound like legit train horns. What I’d like to know is how loud these are compared to Shockers and real train horns. Anyone here have experience with all 3? Cause honestly, I’d take less noise for a more authentic sound like this if these are not as loud as Shockers.

Tone is one thing… Having manual valve is another and will get you more real train sound

The shockers with a manual valve wouldn’t sound anywhere near as good as this.

I browsed the internet and got this from one of the listings - Union Pacific, Leslie A200, Leslie A125, Leslie S3L, Wabco E2.
You should get a lot more if you dig deeper.

Ah, you’re confusing Union Pacific with this. United Pacific is a brand that sells truck parts and accessories and makes some of their own horns. Unlike the usual triple-chrome horns, the 46115 sounds loud and authentic, which isn’t common for these types of horns. I think they’d be serious contenders to the Shockers if they were as loud. They already sound more authentic.

You’re right, I saw Uxxxxx Pacific and jumped to the wrong conclusion.

I do like the sound of the United Pacific horns - on youtube anyway.
I’ve always wondered how loud are they ~really~?

Just picked a set up. I run them with a 1/2" air line and valve at 150 psi and they are EXTREMELY loud! Now I just need to find someone with shockers that also run with a 1/2" air line and 150 psi to compare them side by side with. I’ve heard shockers in person before but that was a long time ago.

There are I think some non genuine train horns that are possibly as loud or louder than the shockers and were left out of djd labs youtube horn comparison video.

Perhaps that’s why DJD left them out. Someone needs to get them to compare the two.

My working project (code name- ‘crazy horn’ hehe) will allow for just that (if you could all wait 6-12 months for it to be ready) as I’ll have a larger range of horns installed permanently on my car than he had to test and although my measuring equipment won’t be as advanced as his, I’ll be testing in multiple locations (i.e multi-story car parks, open space fields etc at both distances to get a good average).

Awesome! I can’t wait! Message Jason directly on Air Horns of Texas and he’ll ship you UP 46115 horns with an unrestricted 1/2" valve and tubing and all the fittings required.

Actually I think I’ve been speaking with Jason, are you implying I should request ones to review and compare or just to buy?
What valve do they normally come with then, it’s a 3/8" isn’t it (and I’ll assume it comes attached, I can’t remember).

I was gonna also add a human ear comparison to the video too as the human ear picks up frequencies at different volumes to a db meter. A db meter thinks a crying baby is as loud as a pneumatic drill, our ears know better though etc. 6-12 months, it’s a big and expensive project so I can’t rush it but I’m certainly looking to see if I can get some guiness world records (no joke) and enter car shows.

The standard valve is 3/8", if you talk to Jason or give them a call, they could hook you up with a 1/2" valve, tubing and fittings for cheaper than you having to buy them seperately. I just bought the 46115 with all that stuff for $260 from them, shipping included.

Ooh, bartering huh? Well the thing is, I know a site that does them about $40 cheaper anyway and when I figure out how much/little $40 actually is (given that I deal in GBP £’s) I’ll know how worthwhile it is.

Well, they deal with it $40 cheaper but they don’t offer the extras. A 1/2" valve that’s unrestrictive and actually decent is $25 in itself, plus the fittings and tubing.

Ah, you know which site I meant then perhaps, or not?
I think the OP needs to get over how good the UP horn sounds lol, it’s like he’s excited all over again every time I come back to this thread to respond to you lol (if just because of the thread title).

Well, when I start a thread, I’m gonna respond to people posting in it. That’s how forums work. How forums don’t work is derailing threads. Bury it and continue on with the topic this thread is about.

Bury it :(…derailing :(…nah none of that happening on here. Besides, the thread would already be dead were it not for our repartee.
