IH truck horn on F 150 not qiute right??

Hey, I mounted a 200005 Vair kit behind the grill on my wifes 2010 F150 this weekend and put an old IH truck horn underneath the front spoiler hooked to the factory horn button. When I let the pump kick off at full and try to blow the horn it sounds like it is spewing air then after a couple of seconds it will blow normal. After that it works fine. Is 150 # of air to much? Thought maybe it could bypass the diaphram then when the pressure goes down it blows fine. It blows fine with my shop compressor at 125#. Any thoughts? Thanks Mark

^ Have you check the diaphragms?

maybe the size of your airline and valve is giving it too much air

When my old siege horns started doing that , i replaced the diaphragms and all was good…

Sounds to me like they are worn out… but that horn probably only runs on 120 psi anyway i believe

We took it apart and cleaned it up. It had hung inside my work from the ceiling as a break horn and was half full of sawdust. After cleaning it does the same thing. I have run 1/2" line with a 3/8" valve. You think I should go smaller on the line feeding the valve? Thought about putting a regulator before the valve to reduce pressure. I figure 120# is max since most trucks dont go over that. Thanks Mark

Did you check the diaphragms to make sure they weren’t cracked?
