so after trying for a long time, my k3la has finally been installed on my 2002 honda civic si with no major cutting!
my setup is a 5 gal tank with dual 480cc compressors at 150psi. i was originally going to do 200psi but felt uncomfortable going that high for my first horn and all.
there weren’t many people in nor-cal willing to do this install, or even knew that putting a train horn in a car was even plausible. plus they had a high quite… so i had to go down to socal to get the thing done. thanx to farmer69’s brackets, all 3 horns were able to fit in the space between my bumper and spare tire compartment. im very happy with the results and had some fun during the drive back home
pictures to come soon, as im still trying to set up my camera software.
that is an isolator, kinda like a relay. Its connected to the spv44 you see in my first photo to my stock battery (below). i decided to just have an extra battery to run my horn because i didn’t want any stress on my car. this way the spv44 can be charged off my stock battery as well.
i do still have the manifold. and sorry i don’t plan on selling it. someday i may have a larger vehicle and may want to put the horn back together or even sell the horn at some point
Thanks for the info. Gonna try a second battery setup for my compressors. Hopefully it works. Gonna have someone install it who KNOWS what they are doing
Looks good man U might wanna add a A.N.L. fuse or 12 circuit breaker under the hood; on ur 4 gauge wire going to ur second battery. To protect the car from fire in case that wire gets pinched or in a wreck . Clean install tho man takes alot effort to put K-3 on small cars.
Oh brother do I know what you mean. Every time you turn a corner with these things youre shelling out more money. I just found out that I have to get a regulator because I cant run my k3’s at 200psi. the engineer told me that. Oh well. 150 it is.
Pump yo brakes steve. No engineer told me to buy the regulator. An engineer at Airchime told me that 200 psi would damage the diaphrams. Thats what I said. YOU are right. You recommended the regulator. And I have a degree in Electronics Engineering from TSU. I aint on the slow side of this at all. lol
