Hi,
Shockers just arrived, i was bafffed upon arrival… have been setting up as to what goes where, so it makes sense to me and i don’t muck up installation
It seems there’s a part missing in my train horn kit, so I can’t continue… (Or maybe i’m just being a nutcase)
The part i believe am missing, i’m unable to connect the main air line to the electric valve with any of the parts supplied.
missing Teflon tape :
my package didn’t come with Teflon tape, too. But you can’t rally stop leaking your tank with TT. I have used an Adhesiv+Sealant for hydraulic and pneumatic systems. HansaFlex HF 305-42 I can leave my tank pressurized over a week without loosing 1PSI. Take a look at http://www.hansa-flex.com/
part in red square:
you are right! You’ll need it to connect the main air line to the electric valve.
Damn, it’s not a unimportant part. But maybe you just have overlooked it???
I hope so!
I also don’t have the item to the left of it, but that might be the Drain Cock, which i do have but it looks different then what i have though…
for my opinion, you have got a better Drain Cock, cause it has some blades to turn it.
checking your Tank:
I find it looks good. Drain Cock under the tank, safety valve on top. Pressure switch and compressor still have to be installed.
I’ve looked right? do you have 6 ports to connect a hose after the valve??
(you’ll be able to connect Psychoblasters to your Shockers :D:D:D:D)
yes it’s like christmas… was the most huge present i ever had
sadly I do have a part missing… kept running around in circles trying to figure out if I did not lose it myself… I know I have not (I never have lost anything, maybe i lost a toy when i was a kid), it’s just not there, checked the packaging four times.
I’ll have a look if I can pick up the missing part nearby… It’s English sizes so I would not know if they have it… i’ll just bring the valve and a piece of 1/2" airline to see.
the teflon tape isn’t that big of a deal, even tho it’s on the image on the product page… that sealant you speak about i’ll have a look at that later… So you say with teflon, air will always leak somewhere?
i also noticed those two extra 5/16" airline fittings
But don’t worry, you’ll have enough air to honk your horns.
But it’s a little bit annoying, to start your car in the morning, and the first you’ll hear is the compressor.
yes i’ll try first with Teflon see how it works out… Thanks for that location! I’m surprised all the horns fit in the front bumper cavity!
everything is resolved already through Garrett (at least the mail came from sales@hornblasters.com)
Hornblasters service is the best… so honest and humble…
The missing part is getting shipped, and I even got offered a free T-shirt for inconvenience… how cool is that!
i’ll still try pick up the part tomorrow… want to get blasting! (I fear due to the English sizes, it’s not around)
I have a few great idea’s for getting onto Dutch TV xD hope this works as well as i’d like it too…
First one is next Saturday, Premiere of Terminator Salvation on huge cinema screen in the Amsterdam Arena, along with other stuff… many camera’s from Veronica are there, so I signed up , maybe I get picked (300 cars max) and if I do, i’ll blast the sh*t out of the Arena (homeplace of soccerclub AJAX)… that’ll echo like crazy in there
Second one is the weatherman… he’s live on TV sometimes near where i live, this one shouldn’t be too much of a problem… just gotta know when he’s where, and i’ll honk him on live TV
so today i’m heavily annoyed… today i went to drive and pickup the missing part somewhat around 50 km from here, the last bit on the freeway before my exit, i pushed the car full throttle going 190kmh…
as going down the exit, i noticed the heat meter going up… uh-oh
quickly shut the car down… opened the hood, saw clouds of white smoke coming under the hood… when i opened the trunk I saw a huge continuous blast of coolant, figuring my radiator broke! OMG!
Driving a Chevrolet Matiz right now… after being towed, and having heard a new radiator and install costs me 300 euro
so i have the part now… but can’t work on the install! >_>
so hoping tomorrow I can continue… i just hope they ordered the right part, since there’s quite a few different models of Swift
make sure it’s the radiator and not a cracked cylinder head
i just got done scrapping my escort because the cylinder head cracked (also had white smoke). Now i get to do the install all over again in my crown vic
yea our 08 dually is having a blown head gascket fixed this week. We took it to the dealer multiple times and they thought it was the radiator but instead it was a blown head gasket.
well in the garage this guy poured some water in the radiator, you could easily see the leak in the radiator so can’t be more sure
probably have the kit installed tomorrowevening… brilliant
when i peeked in the garage I could see my dad trying to blow the horns… by mouth… i bet he’s anxious to hear them… i’m pretty sure he’ll find it quite amusing as soon as i honk them
one remaining question? do the 4 horn threads have to be Teflon taped? or can I screw on the “chinese fingertraps” right away? from what i’ve read i think they don’t need tape, but i’m not sure… this english manual was quite a hard one for me to fully understand but in the end I somewhat did.
thanks for the help everyone. i already have everything fitted… I plan on ordering some Psychoblasters
i have one remaining question, the manual sais to have the solenoid either up, or lying down… not upside down… mine is pointed down and works fine, i do plan on having it lying down, surely it’s in the manual… but why not upside down? it reduce life expectancy?
When you’ve installed it upside down, it is possible, that your valve wouldn’t close correct.
That means, everything seems good, as long you hit your horn-button.
" The valve is holding the pressure, but after a honk, it wouldn’t close "
Beleave me, to empty a full tank could take much more time you are thinking about.
