Just finished installing the K3LA’s and holy crap! I LOVE EMM!
Dang those are glossy. Is that powdercoat?
Too bad they won’t stay that way unless you constantly clean em up.
lol what you mean, i live in california, its 70*F in winter!
Still, with them mounted under the vehicle they’ll get hit with pebbles, road tar, grime, and everything that collects on the road, especially after a fresh rain or snow.
What is the ID of the airline you are using?
im running 3/8" ID - which is 1/8" shy of 1/2"
If i can snag a bigger tank im going to run 1/2" all the way
What size tank is it now?
Just go right to 5/8" OD, let that horn sing!!!
i got 5 gallon tank
And then 5/8 ID when you upgrade to a K5!
Dumb question… The taps on the air tanks are usually 1/2" right? How does 5/8" line get you more sound if the air still has to go through a 1/2" hole??
yah 1/2" is probably the way to go with these Airchimes.
I got a buddy who just got his, and he is running 1/2" on 5 gallon tank too, he says he needs a bigger tank since he can onlly honk a couple of times before the compressor kicks in.
1/2" NPT does not mean the actual hole in your tank is 1/2". It is much larger than 1/2".
The inside of a 1/2 NPT with a 5/8 barb fitting is much larger than any 1/2" fitting. Grab a tape measure and make your own call.
You got it.
ID of a 1/2" NPT port is about 3/4".
ID of my 1/2" NPT to 5/8" barb is .465"
Fittings are usually the restriction.
I understand. Is there a point where bigger line does not give you any more sound or do they get louder and louder? Sorry for the hijack lol
Air restriction will be from the smallest ID port, fitting, or hose in the line. There’s also a small amount of restriction just from friction in a hose.
ohhh snap!!!
thats cold hahahaha
Did you have smaller airline and valve before what you have now?
Is there a big difference?
It must go thru 7 gallon tank pretty fast…
Im adding another 12 gal tank in the spring to the system
Not sure if its worth upgrading valve and air line???
I dont know but i think PSI and Hose Size matters.
the silver truck has a set of K3’s also, his were deeper than mine, but i ran mine at 200 psi to start and he has em set at 150 psi. But he runs 1/2" line and i run 3/8"
but either way, they are loud enough
I had 5/8" ID on my K5 with 1/2" valve. Hose was only about 3 feet. My 8-9 gallons went pretty quick. Seemed to go quicker than other people’s setups.
