Installed the horns today...

…ran into one issue. We ended up, for whatever reason, using 1/4in airline. The solenoid will not open once the pressure gets above 90 or so PSI. Im going to switch the line out tomorrow to 1/2in to see if that helps. Does that sound like the problem/good first place to begin troubleshooting?

Even at 85psi these K3’s sounds amazing.

what solenoid?

i def. would not use that small of air line for such a massive horn…
which solenoid do u have?

The valve was an SMC 1/2in highflow.

Believe I figured out the problem, the valve I was sent is 24 volt…I have no idea why they would send me one like that when it says 12 volt on the website.

That would make for a weak solenoid @ 12v…lol
If it’s new from Hornblasters they should make that right.

Weak how? Im new to this, I dont see how I could get 24v to work when the truck only puts out 14-15 at most.

its why it’s not working properly. call them up and get a 12 volt one

I misread what he said, I thought he meant a 12v solenoid was weak, rather than one thats 24v running at 12. Thanks fellas, hopefully ill have the system running to its full potential soon!

i know some electrical is made 12/24v. wire it one way, and it 12. switch the wires around and you get 24.
try switchin the wires on the selenoid, as long as you have a fuse inline, the worst you can do is blow the fuse.

Never thought of that, do you mean literally reversing the wires?

if it only has 2 prongs…or what ever is used to attach the wires then yea.
not sure why but my selenoid has 3 or 4 prongs on it but i only use 2

anything happend?

Ended up being the valve, got a 12v put in and she sounds like a champ!
