Installing my Hornblasters 240??

Just got my Horn Blasters 240 kit in the mail today… and I have to admit, I’m a bit overwhelmed with the install…

I want to do it right…

I was able to position my horns in the front of my car in good spots and the tank and compressor will be in my trunk. I’m definitely going to need some more air line though since I want to keep the line between the horns all even. As far as the rest of the lines, I should be good.

Any tips to help this install go easy and to be done right the FIRST time? The directions were a little vague. I’ve been going off of the picture diagram basically the entire time. I’ve got all the time in the world to install these things so there isn’t a rush. Also, I would like to have a switch for the compressor as well as a separate button for the horn. Easy to do? Is it easy to adjust the compressor itself so it wont overfill the tank?

So far I have done the following:

Placed and mounted all 4 horns.

Mounted the electric Air Valve.

Started to run the 1/2" air line from the valve to the trunk.

That’s about it… Any short cuts or simple ways to do this would be GREATLY appreciated. Tips on this kit would be helpful as well. This is my first train horn kit ever.

Thanks,

Shane

Fitting the horns can be a challenge so that’s good.

The pressure switch/relay will turn the compressor on & off automatically, but you can put a toggle switch inline to act as a master cutoff switch. That is on the trigger wire.

You can get power from anywhere for the push button for the horn.

Use Loctite 545 on your fittings.

What kind of vehicle is it?

Kit is going in my Lexus SC300… Was able to fit the horns in pretty well up front with a little creativity.

I’m just not very good with electrical stuff and wiring… Running the air hoses and stuff I can do… I just don’t want to ruin my compressor or anything electrical.

Welcome to the forum. The guys here have helped many with their installs so you should be fine.

Thanks!

Now I’m reconsidering my entire install. If I were to put them in my trunk to make it all look cleaner and not clutter up my engine bay, would that muffle the horns in anyway or make it too loud in the cabin?

Shane

Yeah they need to be outside. Or if you really wanted them in the trunk - a couple people have cut holes in the trunk floor so they poke through.

Is there room up behind your bumper? Either front or rear?

I’ll have to check… Pretty tight space in my car. I just want it to look clean.

Right now, I’ve got the two smaller horns under my air filter and they fit nice, my other two larger ones are standing vertical along my radiator. I’m kind of worried about the heat and my radiator though. They both fit nice there though…

If it makes you feel better, there are others with them close to -if not- touching the radiator.

My two are touching the radiator… Should I put something up between my horns and radiator where they make contact with each other?

Hopefully my local hardware store carries some air house. I’m going to need more hose that connect the horns all together… I am to understand they all need to be the same or close to the same length…

The big challenge is mounting everything, that is for sure… Trying to find a vertical spot to mount my valve is the hard part… Found one decent spot that is out of the way, but its far from the horns…

A few of my shocker horns are touching or nearly touching the radiator. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
