Installs

Hey Guys I am planning on putting my Shocker 232 kit in this weekend If I mount the horns under the truck ( 01 DURANGO) How can i keep them from getting flooded out in the rain my previous system got flooded all the time and was a real pain in the BUTT !! any ideas would be great

Blasting in NYC!

How bout turn them around backwards or sideways…

no matter which way they are pointing you will get great sound. pointing down is ideal tho. From what ive seen for durango’s , they have a decent amount of room between grill and radiator … i’d mount them there pointing down.

Mine point forwards and are mounted near the rear of the truck, just in front of the spare tire area. (K5LA is destined for the spare tire area). The S4s have been there a long time and are still just as strong as they ever were!

If you’re that worried about water or debris, point them downwards slightly and put socks over the ends (like the ones HB sells for Nathans).

My K5LAs have A slight downward to them and I have covers to keep the rocks and foreign objests out of them. When I go through to much water I just give A small blast and the horns clear right out. One time it made A funny gurgle after I went for A long drive in the rain. 1 Honk took care of that. LOL

Ok another question can I put 2 horns on 1 side and 2 on the otherside of the truck will this effect to overall sound? I swear there is no room on my durango

You can but try to keep the air lines as short as possible and an even length from the valve so that one horn doesn’t honk before the others get air. I did this on mine for A while and it worked. I have also seen 1 guy that did this but he used 2 valves so there was no lag time when he hit the horn.

Ok so the install is going well compressor and horns are in and air lines hooked up tomorrow will be wiring day . I did how ever run the compressor up to 80 psi HOLY CRAP:eek::D:eek::smiley: I can not wait for a full 150 PSI blast!!! This island is screwed LOL …

People young and old this is your warning !!

How long are the lines from the Valve to the horns ??

Lines from the valve to the horns are about 18" line from tank to valve is about 2 ft

Tank to valve is not really A big concern, But valve to horns is. 18" should be Ok.

I will measure tomorrow just to make sure what is the safe zone ?

Depends on Valve flow, But as long as there is no Delay when you honk the horn you should be OK.

Oh no delay at all it is F in instant !! LOL makes me jump !
Tomorrow is gonna be a good day for me people on the streets not so lucky

You must of just tested it ! Great, Then your lines are not to long

The most ideal position is down…ill completely agree with that every time. A friend of mine has them facing backwards under the tool box in his bed and i have mine against the bumper bar facing down. Just the sound quality between the two should be enough to make you want to face them down.

The reason you’d want them down is because when the sound travels to the floor it disperses and spreads out. My PA speaker is faced down and sounds much louder than it did before. Also the closer the end of the bell is to the ground the better.
