Is it my valve or my horns?

A few weeks ago I went to use my horns and they sounded weird, kinda like squeaky and not loud sounding I thought. Later on during the day I was messing with them and they sounded fine again when I blew them, so I kinda disregarded it and they have been fine since. Now today I went to use them and they sounded like crap. I started messing with them and they would go from sounding normal to sounding reallyyyyyy bad again. Kinda weird. I’m not sure if its the valve sticking or something or if its the diaphragms in the horns. I know I’m getting full PSI and my line is fine too. I was thinking maybe I should take my valve out and clean it like the tutorial on the S10 forum shows. Any ideas?

Heres what the sound like as of right now

Just curious, what psi are you running them at?

150, sorry forgot to add that

That sounds like the diaphragms to me… There seems to be more and more problems lately with the squeak / squeal sound… So far so good here… (looks for wood to knock on…)

Even if it was the valve sticking , that wouldn’t create such a high squeal… When i use my manual valve an just let out the slightest bit of air , its always a deep sound… never a squeal… I would call up hornblasters…

Very true, guess I’ll just leave the valve alone then lol

I have the same problem and I got a replacement set of horns on the way… After I get them installed and a day or two of honking, I will let everyone know if the problem is gone! :FINGERS CROSSED:

Sweet, deff post up the outcome

korey, your squeal sounds like the valve, you can hear all the bells still sounding off
mine started squealing like this http://s185.photobucket.com/albums/x83/eutechnyx/?action=view&current=MOV00492.flv

I guess I’ll just clean the valve tomorrow and see what that does

Got the new horns on and I have not had a squeak since… I think it must have been a bad batch of diaphragms or something… So, my response to everyone who is having the high pitch squeaking problem is to return your horns and have the replaced

Yeah, I just took off mine and took the valve apart. It was clean inside and looked fine so it’s gotta be the horns on mine too. I guess I’ll call tomorrow or monday sometime.

i wonder if HB would just send out replacement diaphragms to those having the problem… Would probably save everyone some hassle… just a thought, but i dont work there … lol

it would void the lifetime warranty then…

Yeah you cannot take them apart without voiding the warranty

ah, gotcha… was just a thought to save shipping… $1.50 shipping , compared to $20 …

change your valve thats what was wrong with mine

You could disconnect the horns from the multi-port fitting and test then individually. And then you can pin point what one is squealing.

Good Luck,

John

Thats a sound piece of advice there!!! one at a time! (guaranteed it wont do it this time lol, sods law)

Mine just started squeaking before I sold the car with them on! Would cost me about 200 Dollars if I’d had to send mine back! :(:mad::eek:

I forgot to post again what the problem was/is

So I thought it was the horns and was going to call HB and get an RMA number to get them replaced. Then I thought I should test the horns with my compressor in the garage to show my friend what they were doing. Well I did and they are fine, no squeaking or weird noises from them. So it’s confirmed to be my valve, which is weird since it seemed fine inside when I took it apart the other day. Guess I’ll be buying a new one soon.
