Is this true?

So i called a local custom truck place down here in miami and asked the guy how much he would charge me to install a K3LA on a f-150 and the guy easily said $500!!! Also he said that a lot of places down here are making “imitation” nathans. Someone help with this please

What is their hourly rate? That sounds like basically a full day of labor.
If they do quality work and don’t nickel & dime you with shop supplies that might be a fair price for a complete install.

Imitation horns might be the ones you can make out of pvc parts. You can somewhat tune them to a nathan chord.

yeah the guy said that a lot of shops down here are making them and selling them as nathans with nathan price tags. I called another shop and they told me $400.

I paid $400 to have my bumper taking off and had a piece of steel welded to my core support to have my k3la setup installed… Took the almost 5/5 hours to complete. I think $400 was very fair. Had three guys working onit… I will post pics soon!

Do it yourself. Its really not that complicated. and if you do have any questions… Thats what we are here for

Wow I had no idea…

That sounds fair and reasonable.
I have the horns but between 2 other projects, the colder wx coming up and time, I may bend and fork over some $$ too.

Since I have yet to put in a remote ingition, Ill see if they work out a good price on both jobs.

The Nathan Imitators we tested ourselves. The horns don’t sound anything like the ACTUAL Nathan Airchime. I wouldn’t even place them next to the average 3 chime chrome in dB or tone.

Very disappointing, as the horns do look very similar, and have a nice finish.

$500 and $400 for install??? wooow. I shopped around for a shop to install my horns and comps etc. and all prices i had were below $350 in North texas

i thought that was too much so i did the install myself

Well the places that i called that had the high prices on the install actually gave me in depth explanations on how they would install it. I called the place where i got my G5 alarm installed and they said $150. I was looking at the installation manual on the k3la kit and it looks like its not so complicated.

Well I’ll be darn…

There’s sad … then pathetic.

And then there are the Imitators.

(Sorry, its just one of those mornings here.)

A custom shop in Baltimore quoted me “About $700” for a full kit install. Needless to say, I figured out how to do it myself

yea it really isnt bad to install everything, once it is mounted the wiring goes by fast.

I know installing everything looks so easy cuz its all common sense literally. My only fear is the wires, im scared that i might put something with something else and mess up the compressor or something else. But im planning on putting the air tank and compressor on my bed because i have a tonneu cover and the nathans where the spare is at now.

Don’t believe the hype brother. The wiring is by far the easiest to do. Look at the wiring diagram, make some connectors, plug it in.

Trying to get 30 plus pounds of train horn mounted, now THAT is a major PITA.

^ Agreed. Lots of fabricating.
