Jackass install...? Before start

Hey guys, i just got my jackass kit and will be starting install tonight. Looks like everything is present, just have a couple ?

  1. Does horn orientation matter? Front, back or downward facing and what will yeild best results?

  2. The compression fittings… They are barbed with the nut sporting a lip. I assume the lip on the nut will press the line against the barb when tightened? The fittings im used to have that bead on the line…

The compressor/tank will be mounted in a brand spanking new kobalt toolbox i picked up from an older gentleman at a garage sale last weekend for 25 bucks! Score!!

Also the best route for lines and wires out of the bed. Im thinking there are some rubber grommets there but thought id ask.
Thanks

Good deal on the toolbox!

I’m not familiar with those fittings, but the horns you can mount in any direction. They might be slightly louder in the direction they’re pointing, but they’re loud regardless.

My bed only had some factory drain holes. Very painful to holesaw a new truck…but it’s done and rustproofed.

definitely use grommets or coat the holes with some kind of flexible insulation (duct or electrical tape, maybe a spray on vinyl or bedliner?)

Well, i got everything in and ready to go except for the switch. Need to go to the parts store and get a push button. It was a breeze to install…the electrical i hate doing but overall it was very easy. Will report with pics when its all done and heard.
