JDM-Style 8th Galant with K5LA @ 252psi

HI guys,

now its time to introduce you my horn.

I drive an 8th generation Galant EA0 station Wagon. Its the japan style version, as i´m from Germany. Influenced by my first horn kit vom Hornblasters.com ( the Outlaw 127VX) i want to get a bigger horn. And now its ready to blast people away:

The K5LA is installed on the roof. The train horn is hooked up by the roofreeling of my car. The pressure is generated by a diving bottle that is hidden in the reserve trunk space of the car. The bottle has 12liter and an pre-pressure of about 200bar ( 2900psi). The pressure is regulated by a pressure reducer low to an output between 9-20bar (130-290psi).

The air is pushed by an standart 12mm line to the horns.

Here is a small video of it, hope you like it:

Cool! Thanks for the pics and video!

lol get ready to get reamed for running a k5 at 252 psi lolol

What you mean ? You mean the horn will get damaged by the pressure ?

why is your hatch open in the vid?

About how long does a full fill on your bottle last you? I am doing the same type of setup (high to low pressure).

12 bar in that video is 174 psi.
Are you running higher now?

@ashylarry

i just forget to close the trunk door when i started for the test drive
I´m not sure about the total time. I have blast the horn a several times. I think its about 2-3Minutes until the bottle is empty. I will to check this - but its hard to find some free space where nobody lives so i can test.

@ear2ear

i have tested also 15 and 18bar last days, but just for some few seconds. I want also to test the loudness, because i´m not sure about the dezibel the horn does.

Will let youo know, when tested.

yeha! this is consistent! but where do you fill your tank? and what about the police? and at least: WHERE IS “TR”? greets from altenburg!

I can fill the bottle in every diving shop. The filling cost me 3,60€. I think this bottle is the best way to power the horns. You dont need a big compressor and that big tanks. All is nicely hidden in the trunk.

The police have not met me until know - i thinkthey would be a little bit shocked - but who dont :wink:

TR= Trier, the oldest City from Germany, near Luxembourg. But if you are interedted to meet me, send me some mail. Next year i´m near Erfurt, thats nearer to you.

nice setup, but yeah anything more than 200psi can and most likely will damage the horn. 120-175psi is a good range to operate at.
