As some of you know, I recently installed a K3la mor setup on my Toyota Yaris. I’ve been dailing it in by securing leaks and adding a second 400c.
One thing I’ve noticed, on the manifold to the horns you have the main inlet for the air that goes in the center. While trying to place the horn set, I saw that there are two hex head plugs on either side of the manifold…
…can those be used as the inlet for the air?
If I can, I can solve all my placement issues by re-plumbing the air into the side of the manifold.
Sounds reasonable. Worth a shot if it fixes your space issue. The only problem you might face is that the hex side hole isn’t as big as the central inlet so you could end up with a minor reduction in sound output. Seriously doubt it’d be noticeable to anyone other than a dB meter.
You seem pretty handy with building stuff, so I still reckon you should have a crack at making some individual mounts for each bell.
I don’t want to over estimate my abilities but, I have been known to make fabrication happen from time to time. For me it’s an initial period of cowardess, then thought on the idea at hand…then things really get interesting.
It’s always good to have a network of local contacts that have different specialties.
I’ve got a “closer” fitting I’ll install on Sunday. If that doesn’t make me happy, I’ll explore the side entrance as well as the relocation plans you’ve made.
The good news is the grill-less car garners a lot of attention at work, followed by requests for “hornings”.
All that being said, I have multiple things to think about with this little car. I’ve got to get that trunk up and pretty again. That first picture you guys saw of the finished trunk has been foremost in my mind. I need to reman a “collar” to keep my false floor and surround & support the new compressors and tank…
If you were really worried about flow, you could split your main line with a tee and use both 3/8" ports. One could argue that using a tee and 2 elbows hurts the flow.
But if others say there is no sound difference using one port, you’re good. I would try to use a straight fitting though…
I was actually looking at your manifold along with DBO’s mounts and had a couple ideas. Let me know if you’re thinking seperate mounts.
