I Finally got around to installing my system today, what a chore it was… 9 hours working leisurely mixed in with two fire calls that set me back a bit also. Got the dial Viair 444C kit, 12 gallon tank, and a manual valve. Everything works well except some leaks, and by some i mean alot… Loosing almost 1psi every 1-2 minutes. Ive found them and plan on tackling it another day. Ive about had all the fun i can handle for 1 day. The wiring really kicked my butt today, but i think it all turned out really nice
Once i get leaks fixed ill get some exact fill rates, as of now it takes 6-8 minutes, from 110-150 seemed roughly 2 minutes. I may redo my interior setup, I used WAY to many fittings… It looks bad… But works great:D a additional compressor is most certainly in the future, maybe a 380,just to give the 444’s a little help with the 12 gallons.
Here are the pictures, better ones to come when i redo the interior. Plus i wanna vet some kind of lock for the toolbox so someone cant simply open the lid, unbolt everything and walk away with my stuff. Any suggestions on that one? The toolbox lock is not repairable/replacable
Sorry, I can only upload 5 at a time, the last pic you can sorta see my fitting mess. It will be redone… Also you can see my master switch for the system, its the key switch below the other switch boxes. This way when it goes to the shop i can drain the tank and remove the key:p
Thanks HB for the stickers!!! They look good.
This also seems like a good tailgater deterrent haha just kidding;)
haha I think I used way to many fittings for my set up also. I have enough brass to make a trumpet.
i aslo thought about security bolts for the bells. but i came to the conclusion that alot of people can easily get the bits. You could buy a cheap set of bits at a hardware store that would cover the majority of the security bolts out there.
what i thought would be the best way was to make a bolt and make the socket or bit for it also. so that means only you have that specially made “key” to turn the bolt.
these guys make the custom security bolts and the bit the match so the customer is the only one with the matching “key.” you have to request a quote from them, but if you plan to keep the horn there all the time i would consider this.
i would have these for mounting the bells to the manifold and have at least two for the back caps
Those Key-Rex bolts are pretty cool, although I think all that kind of stuff only stops the opportunist type thief. If they really want it, they’ll probably just take the whole car.
Ages ago we had friends who ran a limousine service and he had an old 60’s vintage Bentley which ‘apparently’ came from the British royal limo fleet. It had a couple of car coils and a 24v battery setup in the trunk which electrified the door handles when you flicked a secret switch under the front fender. If you ever been well and truly zapped by a spark plug lead you know what I’m talking about
