Well i’m finally on vacation and I am getting the chance to install my K3LA
So far i have moved my shockers down to the frame and they are hooked up to my alarm… Heres some pics…
And I fit with no room to spare the Airchime in the grill!!!
Heres the longest bell below grill by skid plate…
And as you can see, a very tight fit for grill to go back in…
I got the 1/2’ line run to the manifold from the GW clone valve in truck cab… Now i gotta just run 1/2" to the valve… I tested it with 3/8" going to the valve , then 1/2" out to horns and i wasnt too impressed compared to the shockers… but i think thats just because of the horns are starving for air… Hopefully i can get my left over fittings i need and have this all done by mid week… Supposed to rain tomorrow , so it will be a good day to gather extras i need. Will update with pics and video when done!
I love the shockers! And being they are tied into the alarm, it seriously makes for the ultimate security system!
Plus the alarm is programmed where i can honk the shockers from up to 3000 feet away . (compustar alarm’s rock) Or just on the other side of parking lot if i want to scare co workers or anyone else walking by ,
They are in, tanks are plumbed , and horns are honking!
I still gotta get a better vid yet and pics of the tanks install, but heres a teaser vid… They sound pretty good i think , they are loud, but i kinda like the shockers sound better… its deeper where the k3 is a higher pitch… any ideas? How do they sound you u?
You could trade your #4a bell for a #3 bell and get a deeper tone out of them. I personally love the k3la/k5la tone. That higher pitch blast really gets attention. The higher pitch notes are more alerting, where as the lower pitch notes carry farther. This is where the whole multiple train horn bell configuration came from in the early years. It is all about your taste though…
Almost sounds like you not getting enough air. Or you had the windows closed when you took that video.
Those are not horns from me correct, I dont remember ever seeing a back cap like that. How are the internals?
You switched everything to 1/2 right?
Fittings on brackets tight, o-ring still on horns?
You have a 3 port manifold, I haven’t sold one them in awhile. You been sitting on these for a bit?
There may be a slight tone conflict with the bells at an angle but it wont quite them.
Alot of people in start find there shockers are louder then what a k3 is. When a k3 is working at full tilt you will feel it, and it will make you recoil. Shockers will not. Not saying there a bad horn as I have a set thats been in use for 4 years with zero issues.
Last question, would it have been helpful if I had a bracket that was say 1 inch high.
You can call me so I can try to help you out, or I can listen to them on the phone.

Like you say it could be because you’re in the cab.
Maybe you don’t hear the 4A as much.
One thing I’ve noticed watching youtube videos is that horns mounted up on a rack with no obstructions can sound a lot nicer/cleaner/truer. That dude’s sounds really nice.
You should get a driveby video to see where you’re really at…
Yea thats one of my favorite quotes… George Carlin was one of my favorite comedians! I had a chance to go see him a few years ago but i couldnt get off work , then a couple years ago he died…
So since i hooked this up with the 1/2" line , it hasnt sounded right to me at all… And a bunch of other people said the same thing via the video and in person… I got a couple ideas what to do from members and others … And in the end i decided to go with upgrading the airline to a 5/8" OD - 1/2" ID…
I purchased the DOT line from www.airridefittings.com And the 5/8" PTC brass fittings… Let me warn you ahead of time… If you decided to go this route, have a box of tissues to wipe the tears away as the fittings are pricey BUT, i am very happy.
I dont have a video yet , but they are extremely loud You can feel it in your chest when you blast them
Along with upgrading the line i connected both tanks in the bed with 2 1/2" lines now instead of just 1 like before… I think this is also helping to keep the volume equal… I also took off the extra fittings / T on the GW valve and Put in more support behind the bolts in the counsel so its solid now… Heres the updated pics… I deleted the old ones so it would not be confusing .
Hey wait a sec! Where’d that GW valve go? I coulda swore it was there just a second ago!! Lol nice way to hide it from da po-po! Everything looks great man!
Video will be soon… I didnt have my vid cam with me to record it , and my cam that i used for pics takes bad vids…
LOL, Actually about 2 weeks ago i was pulled over for my fogs being on… (state trooper was coming towards me, my radar was going crazy warning me , and i saw him pass and whipped around!)
As soon as i saw him turn around i put the hat on the valve… i didnt want to explain what that metal thing was between the seat at night time… Anyway he was actually cool, gave me a warning only to shut them off when traffic is approaching.
There only 55w HID’s
I did end up adjusting them tho and turned them more towards ground for fogs and not so much driving like i had them…
