I have a chance to buy a “kong quad” horn and I have tried to find a little info on them with out much luck so Im wondering if they would be worth having. The price is for the horn only and I would have to buy everything else…I am new to train horns so any help would be appreciated.
Anyone can feel free to chime in, no punn intended. The typical kit for the Kong series came with a 5gal 6 port tank, 3/8" line but I’m not certin on the compressor size. Anyone know?
You planning on running 3/8" or 1/2" line?
Wait…Let me back up.
Your buying just the horn and never owned an airhorn before? Your gonna need it all man.
Bolts, air fittings, solenoid (1/2" or 3/8" depending on the line you run), wireing, button or manual valve (Graham White), pressure switch, guage (manual or digital), I’d reccommend an inline fuse.
Let be honest here Jim. It aint gonna be cheap. Think you should go the safe way and buy a complete Onboard Air System. http://www.hornblasters.com/products/category.php?c=onboard-air-systems
You could spend from $274.00 up to $399.00 for a complete 5gal system.
They know what you’ll need. You’ll be in good hands.
But you need to determin weather your running 3/8" or 1/2" line.
We’ll all try our best to get you through this painlessly. Maybe. lol
Hope that helps you get started.
Thanks…I have been looking at those kits as well as a few others and sent H/B an email for advice as well.
Whats better to use 1/2" line…I mean more air the louder the sound?
Also if it is a 4 horn setup do I need a tank with 4 ports?
Are the Kongs mounted to a manifold?
Either way, you’re going to use 1 port out of the tank going to your valve.
Then it either goes to a splitter or the manifold if it has one.
Yes, 1/2" tubing is less restrictive and has the potential to be louder.
Depends on how air hungry the Kongs are, but 1/2" doesn’t cost much more and you would be good to go for more / bigger horns.
