loosing some psi

ok so its the fall here in N.Y and its been gettin colder about 50-64 daily in the summer i never had any issues with my psi dropping throught the day
now all the sudden i let my tank sit without honking for about 2 days
it filled up to 163ish give or take… within 2 days i am at 150 when the tank was last filled it was about 68 degrees i dont know the temp matters as it was last being filled or not… as i said the whole summer i never lost any psi in fact i use to gain 10 psi just by the heat which bought it up to 170 psi on some days …
so will this be normal for winter as it will probably fill to 160 for what i set it for… will the air get so cold that it will bring my psi down

my question is
if u fill a tank to 160 psi in lets say 80 degress F
then hyperthetical it went down to 30 degress that night would u get the same effect? as
if the tank was filled to 160 psi in 30 degree weather?
would both still drop in psi or only the one that was filled in the much hotter condition?
checked all my fittings in the summer all were air tight did the soapy water test.

Could it be the cold weather condensing the air inside even further?

Its pretty simple, heat increases pressure, cold decreases it.

If you fill your tank during the hottest part of the day, by the morning you would loose some pressure due to cooling.

If you want to be sure you dont have a leak. Make sure you check the the pressure at the same temp.

One more thing, compressing air causes it to heat up. Thats why you loose a few psi after the compressor shuts off, the air inside the tank is cooling back to ambient temperature.

ahhh i was wondering why after the tank was full it would drop a few psi . thank you for the input
