More problems with compressor after being fixed

Hey guys i finally got everything installed on my truck and it sounds sooooooo rediculous…I was thinking about keeping my old setup and running my k5la and it also but honestly you wouldnt even be able to hear my old setup. these things are looooooouuuuudddd!

ANYWAYS…

as you guys know i had some problems with my old viair 380c compressor. It stopped working suddenly and i was told to replace to brushes. So i bought the new brush kit from hornblasters then hooked the compressor up to a battery to check it and it worked perfectly. So the other day i finally get done installing my new Nathan setup and my brand new Viair 380c is working like a champ but my old one seemed to be struggling a bit. It got very hot, and was very very noisy compared to the new one. then after about 6 minutes the old one quit working while the new one continued to fill the tank? Do you think if i buy the rebuild kit for it it should work like new? Because i already bought the new backplate and brush assembly i mean what else is there if i got the rebuild kit?
thanks guys

o ya and btw i’ve only had the new horns on for a day and have already had the cops called lol

If the pump is struggling, and sounds like its struggling, you may have a damaged motor. Test the contacts to ensure the motor is getting distributed power throughout the commutator. Have you inspected the front end of the compressor? (IE: piston seal, cylinder wall, etc.?)

Thanks for the quick response lance!

I checked the piston and cylinder wall and stuff and it looked okay i mean it wasnt perfect but you would think it would still work fine.

I’ll check the motor and keep you posted thanks man

No sweat bro.
Who did the repair?

my girlfriends dad…So i found out it pops the fuse after a while about 5 minutes of running…and it’s still noisy as hell. I know it’s not the wiring because it’s wired identical to the other one

:eek:Same here!!! :eek:I sent my compressor into the hornblasters technicians to find out whats wrong with it. You are using 40A, right? If you use a smaller fuse they’ll bust like crazy. Also, mine didn’t pop after just 5 minutes. On the other hand, i bought a gold plated super expensive fuse hoping it would solve the problem. That one busted after a day at the beach:mad:. My compressor should be back soon, and if they say what the problem is, I’ll be sure to tell you.

Also; have you checked the ground? Made sure its going to a good metal frame? No paint or residue interference?

I rewired mine too, and sanded the place where my ground is at. Thats when I gave up, called hornblasters, and Rico helped me. Thanks again Rico!

P.S, I’m running a single 480c viair to a shocker 240set at 200psi with a 2 gallon tank

If your compressor came with copper cable and the ground cable is the same length as the power cable then it’s a good idea to run both cables to the battery.

Copper conducts better than steel and that will lower your current draw.
