:eek:I wanted to know how much time my 8.5gallon tank would last, before the K5’s stopped, I was not expecting the solenoid to freeze open. Once the tank recharged, I tried them again & no problems!
Run some Methyl Chloride in the tank each winter. (Air Brake Antifreeze)
Don’t drain the tank until spring. I run a Pint in a 5 Gal Air Tank. No More
Freeze up of the solenoid.
Malodave
Or just wire up some 12v DC heat cable (example: http://www.oemheaters.com/p-6109-12v-dc-heat-cable-5-wattsfoot.aspx) to a switch, place it appropriately on the solenoid to heat it, and toggle it on when the weather warrants it. Voila! Warm solenoid and no bizarre chemicals in your air system, flowing through your horns, or if you’re like me – through your air tools.
or if your like me, Horns and or Tires or air tools
I’m like you … but forgot to mention tires!
Thanks guys! I will try the 12v heater method me thinks, last thing you wanna be doing is driving past a police car in the dead of night with a set of K5’s blaring away!!!
Or Pete you can be really tight and just relocate the solenoid to approx 2mm above yer exhaust lol (jokein)
Roll on 2015 !!!
I have 2 solenoids in series just in case something like this happens. The second solenoid is right near my radiator.
