I have 2 sets of k-5s I want to put a K-3 on my vehicle. My bells are… 1L,1,2,3a,4a and the other is 1,2,3a,4a,5 I want a k-3 on my vehicle with the 1L bell. Im gonna need 1L,1,and what else to make it correct. I tried it with the 2 and it sounded good to me…
1L,1,2 is a K3HL or K3LL depending on which manifold you are using. This is used by Union Pacific now days by the way.
So this combo is used on a train with the 1L,1,2? I want a k-3 with some depth… gonna try a 1L, 1, 3a and see what it sounds like…
a k3LL would be 1L,1,3L or C,D#,A and that is A diminished chord. I tried it on my guitar and piano and its not really pleasing.
What you could do is C,D#,G# or (1L,1,3a) which is a Ab Major chord
or you can do C,D#,A# or (1L,1,3) which is a C Minor 7th, playing the root which is C, then the third D#, and the seventh A#.
personally i would be very interested to actually hear both of these from a k3
I too would love to hear any of these combinations.
OK I have the 1L,1,3a combo that i can listen to and will try it today sometime. But i want probley record it. I will let u know how it comes out… thanks…
well i tried the two diff combos and liked them both. The 1L,1,2, had a haunting type of low aggressive tone where the 1L,1,3a had more of a high to low spectrum that sounded more correct. You could really hear that 3a standing out. I still dont know what combo i will use on my vehicle. I was told on another site that union pacific is using that 1L,1,2 combo on some of there trains now… i will try to record soon. I have some good recording gear, a mixing board and a good microphone and can get it to garage band software. But then i will have to figure out how to get it to the site…
Yah that diminished chord or 1L,1,2 combo will sound very haunted house-ish.
upload it to youtube. and if you ever get your hands on a #3 bell try that combo too
