I was wondering what two k3la’s would be like? I’ve got one now I don’t like it at 200 psi. I think it sounds much better below 150 psi. I’m think since I got dual 480’s and 10 gallons of air another k3 would fit right in. Has anyone done it? What did you think about it. Was it worth the cost of the extra horn?
if you dont like the k3la i will trade ya my set of shockers…
Your kiddin right? The k3 are awesome. I’m just wondering about two k3’s. They sound better at 150 than 200. 200 psi they get sounding more like the shockers to me.
Not to mention it’s not good on the horn to run it at 200 PSI. I’ve never heard two at once but that might not be a good idea unless you can find one that sounds exactly like yours. You’d have to find another manufactured around the same time frame or you’re going to have 2 horns that sound a little different, creating a pretty bad sound.
<------ means kidding
You should get another manifold, put bells#3 and #5 and whatever you want for the third and you will have a 6 chime:D Or just get a K5. I have tried a leslie rs3l and a k3 at the same time. It does not produce the most pleasing sound, but it is loud as heck! It does drain my ten gallon tank fairly quickly though.
Thanks, thats what I was after.
They are designed for lower pressures (Approx 90-140) so when you put 200 psi to them the musical notes will be slightly off or I should say Higher. I intend to use lower pressures in the near future as I don’t wanna ruin my Horns. The Nathan horns are very tough but why ruin A good thing. Just my 2 cents.
I used to have 200psi going to my nathan p5’s but my pressure switch shorted out and i had to order a new one. I decided to go with a 175psi swith from Hornblasters, hopefully it will sound just as loud.
I cant wait to get my K3’s…Gonna run them at 150psi!
my biggest issue is AIR…I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH TO SATISFY THESE THIRSTY THINGS…LOL
Add a p series on there. you will like the tone of them alot more but the k3 is great if you wana out do somrbody or scare somebody.
Even at 150 psi You could damage the diaphrams. 150 would be the limit I would use. I blow mine at 145 psi. And never had a problem. And I switch my horns quite a bit when I get bored. And if you didn’t know already. The K3 is a few decibels louder then the K5.
true, I have had a set of Nathan K5LA’s and I like my P5’s better ( they squeal like a real train…lol )and also i could mount them easier under my truck.
yea thats why i have p3s they sound better or even a k3 on a manual valve
As long as you get a K3LA/K3HA and not a K3, the tones should be fine.
I’ve heard a couple customer’s vehicles with that kind of setup and it sounded in the regular tone, just louder.
We also had a vehicle with two K3LA’s and a K5LA. Not quite the same thing, but at lower pressures the tones didn’t sound in discord. At higher pressures is was just insanely loud.
Your 10 gallons of air is fine for two K3LA’s. It’ll cut your honk time down to half, but it should definitely be enough. You could always install a toggle switch and disable one horn for full/half power.
The 480’s you have will run great at 150 (or lower) pressures! Since you’ll be running them under their rated pressure they should last longer. Plus they’re pretty fast at low pressure: only about 10 seconds slower than dual 400’s on their 110-145, and 0-145 refill times.
