I’m new to this forum and train horns in general so I just thought I would ask people that are a little more knowledgeable which train horn is overall the best, last longest and how to tell what kind they are.
Welcome to the forums.
Here is a good thread about Lelies & Nathans with pics.

Nathan horns are the easiest to work on, and very loud. Generally they have a tag that says “Nathan Airchime” and the newer bells have Nathan airchime on the sides and nathan airchime on the back caps. The “K” horns are the most popular and they require minimum 5 gallons of air. Or you can go with the “P” series horn by Nathan. These also say Nathan Airchime on the manifold tag and are easy to work on and they require less air to blow than the K horns. Some say they are not as loud though. Then you have the mighty Leslie airhorns. These are air hogs and very loud. And they are a pain to work on and not recommended for a “newbie”. The can be a pain but if sounding properly, they can be very rewarding. They also have “Leslie Supertyfon” cast on the bells. Best bang for the buck, Nathan K3 for a starter.
Leslie RS-3L to the left and Nathan K3 to the right. Nathans are a lot smaller than the Leslies as you can see.
Well I am getting them for free and they just came off of wrecked trains all he has are 5 packers is what he told me so based on that which are the loudest. I plan on going with a 10 gal air tank with dual Viair 444c or 480c compressors.
dual 480s and Nathan! ! or get em both and send me the set u dont use lol
