Ok, so i need to find something like a remote or something to make the horn go off when i want it to. i know someone here has to have something like that. what are you using to hit the horn without being in the car?
You’ll need a remote controlled solenoid. You can find them on eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-MOMENTARY-REMOTE-CONTROL-0V-OUTPUT-SWITCH-RP11-/350566297766?pt=Home_Automation_Controls_Touchscreens&hash=item519f6130a6) or your local electronics shop. Just line that between your horn solenoid and a 12v power line.
is this something you have? if you press it the horn will keep going till you press it again?
That’s why i gave you a link to a momentary switch
so ill take that as a yes
Uhm… yes. You can also get the on/off variety which have a different switch frequency (and button) for each state. Those one I sent you the link to seemed to be single momentary (i.e. hold button to turn on), but I’d confirm that with the vendor. In any case, that’s the type you’ll want.
Momentary means it is activated until you release the button.
Your steering wheel horn button is momentary.
Welcome to the forum. Momentary means just that. A latching switch stays on until you press it again.
