need help extra air

The horns are on the ds frame and tank and compressor or on the PS frame and the compressor is mounted right behind tank.

Another ? The line they sent was 1/4 line would it be louder with 3/8 line

Most horns can benefit from bigger airline, fittings, and valve.
It’s hard to say if your pipeline horns are being starved for air though.

i will check those things when i get home. i got a new guage and some wire.

Ok I changed the wire, gauge and fitting no leak. I am filling up to about 160psi and my horns start a small hum so then the tank is not filling up, I believe to horn leaking air since I hear a hum. What to do now

The valve is letting air through. It should be completely 100% shut. You are losing a lot of air if it’s making the horn hum. Time to look for a new valve.

OK By valve your talking about on the horn or where

Yes, I believe that is what valve he is taking about.

OK another quick ? Is it possible that the horns are only rated for 150psi and the tank and everything else is 200 psi so at 160 psi it is forcing that valve open

That is possible but that is abnormal. That valve should hold 200 with no problem. I think the valve is weak and needs to be replaced. Like everything in this world they put a smaller number on products than they can really handle.

Yeah, the valve with the wires going to it - that you hook your airline to.

Good point about the valve. They do have pressure ratings. Was it a kit? You would think everything would work together. There’s a chance that there’s junk in there not letting it close all the way too.

That is if the valve is rated for 150psi

Ok here us the deal now,I could either buy a smaller pressure or buy a bigger valve so what do I do now. Where is the best place to buy either

Is any of this new or have a warranty? Otherwise Hornblasters has different valves & great service. Give em a call.

Personally id go with a smaller pressure switch (150psi) and still change out the valve so it will be reliable. This way you are not running your compressor to absolute max working psi, and you wont destroy those diaphragms in the horns… Been there done that.

I am currently running a dual pack of viair 380c’s which are capable of 200 psi, but i only have a pressure switch to 150 psi. This allows me to have 100% duty units , non stop running with no problems.

K I will look into that where could I get a switch

I think you need to remove that, buy a new horn and replaced it. because it is very old and it’s system are 90% finished. so this is best way for you.

If it’s an oilless compressor then sideways is fine. Just don’t mount them upside down or the heat stays in the head.

i will be installing a lower pressure switch so i will let you know what going on. thanks guys for everything.

VALVE!!! - disconnect the pipe going to the horns out of the valve and use soapy water on the valve, sounds like debris stopping the valve closing off 100%.
