Need help with air gauge

I want to hook up this gauge in the dash:

Problem is Im a noob when it comes to “fitting lingo” so, the gauge already comes with 1/8 NPT fittings and tubing. So what size is the tubing? 1/8 Im assuming.

My next issue is finding the fittings needed to connect the 1/8 air line to one of the 1/2 Female NPT fittings on the tank, I really dont know what I need or where to find it.

Thanks for any help.

I found this to adapt the tank to the line:

Is this what Im looking for? Its also $17

Yes that will work if you need a male x male.

If you need a male x female it will look like this:

Lets say I bought the one you posted, what do I need to connect the tubing from the gauge?

Sorry, noob to air stuff

Here are the instructions for the gauge you posted:

It looks like it uses a compression fitting. Did it come with something?

I dont have the gauge in hand yet, but it says it comes with 1/8 compression fittings.

After going to Ace and studying all the fittings they had there I think I have a good grasp on how this stuff works now. I picked up a 1/8 compression fitting with a couple other adapters that will allow me to fit 1/8 line to the tank.

What’s your max pressure going to be?

Pegging that gauge out to it’s max (150psi) all the time might cause you some issues.

Kris

Its 150 (provided the press switch is accurate). I realize maxing it out may cause issues down the line, but thats why I have the gauge, to monitor the system.

When it says it comes with a 1/8 compression fitting or fittings. The one fitting will thread on the back of the gauge. The other fitting will go on the lateral side of pipe into your tank. So you can go down to your local hardware store, Lowes or Home depot. and get a brass reduceing bushing that goes from 1/2" Npt. to 1/8’ Npt. be careful not to tourque that compression fitting to the hilt. it can over compress it and make it leak. Also that 1/8" line kinks real easy if going thru a fire wall or existing hole I would run it thru 1/4" tubing as a stiffer wall for the tubing.

Here this is right form Autometer: Notes: Air Pressure 150 PSI (Mechanical). Includes 10 ft. nylon tubing with 1/8" and 1/4’’ NPT adapter/fittings.

Good Luck,

John

Thanks for the help. I just received the gauge today. It came with two 1/8 compression fittings and a 1/8f-1/4m NPT adapter. The 1/8 tubing it came with was too short (10ft) but luckily I ordered 20ft of 1/8 from HB.

So that being said, all I really needed to fit this gauge to the tank was a 1/4f-1/2m NPT adapter (same ones that come with the 540 kit) which I already picked up at ACE.

Now, I have almost everything I need to start the install, minus a critical 36" leader hose extension line which I should have in 1-4 WEEKS!:frowning:

No problem. Hope install goes well for you.
