Need help with battery issue.

I am buying a Shocker 232XL Train Horn Kit and i have heard it was very loud. But I want to hook it up to its own battery in my trunk. I will Charge the Battery every night to keep it charged. Would there be any problems with this? Would it last all day if i honked it rarely. The battery is a XPS® 12-Volt Deep Cycle Marine Batteries (url) http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_58337____SearchResults or something like this. I dont mind to spend the money. So any segestions are welcome.

I dont see any real reason why this would be a problem. All i would say is it may depend on the Amp pes hour of the battery? The compressor can take alot out of it. I just fitted a higher ampage alternator on my car to keep it all tip top. Why do you want gud hassle of takin out the battery every nite mate. Surely it would make sense to wire a feed straight from your motors battery or run a feed from your existing battery to your 2nd battery and have it trickle charge up whilst driving around?

Well i park in a garage and i would just leave it plugged in all night and leave the charger in my car. its a small charger but gets the job done

We had a battery charger go wrong on us once, (a few years back) it overheated and cooked the battery… I think that would be my only concern.

That will work fine but it will be a hassle. Why not just use the battery already in your car? My brother’s truck is bagged and he has 2 compressors. His stock electrical handles it all just fine.

you could put one in the trunk and wire leads to your alternator and you wouldent have to worrie about it every night
thats what i would do if i needed a second battery but my d-max already has two
but i have a yellow top and it will run my compressor constantly for as long as my truck is running

Well i would hook it to my car battery but i already have two 2000 wat amps hooked up and inside neons and a dvd player and L.E.D ground glow kit hooked up so its pushing a little much lol i dont want to go over board.

I certainly would not rely on a battery alone running it. And i bet it would be frowned upon from the compressor manufacturer… I know when i turn my truck to “on” for just the batt, and the compressor kicks on , it sounds like its dogging along and definitely NOT getting enough power.

hook it up as an auxiliary batt, or just run the wires to your current batt.

go get a high output alternator. it would be best for your air horn AND your stereo.

I would run a #1 or #0 cable from the trunk battery to my vehicle’s battery or alternator and ground the trunk battery to the chassis. The long run and resistance of the cable should help keep it from draining the vehicle battery too much unless you use your compressor a lot.
