I live in wisconsin and we are aproaching winter which is sad because thats when the horn system acts up. The compressor never stops running and im afraid of burning it up so i disconnect the system…is there anything i can do?
heres my website with horn pics
Do you have A pressure gauge ? if so when the pressure is at desired maximum, shut it off but trouble shoot your problem,Check or change pressure switch,Could be A sticky relay. In any case Never install A pump that is wired (HOT) all the time. I have 2 kill switchs in the main lines separate from keyed ignition for my pumps, Just in case A relay sticks or pressure switch goes bad.
It sounds normal to me… when it gets to cold, usually the check valve in lead hose will stick, and either wont allow tank to fill, or will take forever… I installed a switch in between my remote wire for pressure switch so that way when it gets below 30 degrees, i flip the switch and the compressor dosent get the signal to turn on…
yes. , but if the line that its pumping the air thru is frozen since there is going to be moisture in there, its gonna do no good if the check valve wont open. Ive tried running it at single digits b4 and it turns on but gauge barely moves.
This video was from new years when i was planning on blasting the horn at midnight… As you will see it was all frozen over outside, 10 degrees out… compressor would not even try and fill tank… it was running but no movement in gauge, and by the sound of the horn, the valve was also affected from the severe cold. there was only 60 psi left in tank from previous days when it was working… http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v255/jjs04colly/videos/?action=view¤t=PC310763.flv
