New From Florida

Whats up guys, ive been looking around for a while and finally decided to post. A little bit about me is my name is Justin, im 16, I live in central Florida and I love train horns. My parents are going to buy me a K3LA for Christmas as long as I buy the onboard air setup. Ive been wanting a train horn sence i watched a terror on the streets video a couple years ago and im really exited im finally going to get one. Just wanted to get my first post out of the way.

Welcome to the forum Justin! We are glad to have you as a member!

Start posting it up brudda!

Welcome Aboard Justin.
Man, I want your parents. I’ll buy another OBAS if they buy me a K3. LOL. Any way, being just 16, it might be a great combo, just learning how to drive and having a K3 to tell people to GET THE HELL OUT OF MY WAY! LMAO!
Naa, it’s all good though.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I cant wait to get my horn so I can tell all those prius driving tourists from out of town to move the hell over.

O yeah I almost forgot, as soon as i get my stuff ill post tons of pictures of the horn and the install.

Welcome to the forums! What will these horns be mounted on, possibly a big chevy?

Its a 02 chevy 1500, its stock hight for now but soon to be lifted.

Right on. Where are you thinking of mounting them?

Im putting the k3 where the spare tire is, the tank and compressor is going in the truck box.

Welcome.

Please don’t turn it into a pavement queen…lol. Only lift it because you plan to take it off road or for launching boats.

My truck is no where near a pavement princess, I go out in the woods alot and she sees alot of mud.
90% of the time it looks like this or worse

I just thought about it, my truck is off road alot and I have cleaned tons of mud off the spare tire where the k3 is soon to be mounted. Will mud, dirt and water getting inside the bells hurt the horn or the diaphrams?

Nothing a little water wont fix. The ideal thing is to aim them towards the back so the debris wont fly DIRECTLY into the bells. And if it becomes TOO much of a probelm you can get bonnet covers for the bells. They sell them at hornblasters.com

Also, welsome to the forum. You know, at 16, trouble with the police will be your friend. But screw THEM. You got a train horn and its a lot louder than their puny sirens. WELCOME TO THE FORUM.
HORN ON!!!

There going to be pointed towards the back but ive had my truck in mud/water past the bumper so hopefully I wont tear up my horn.

I just orderd a nathan airchime K3LA from mrenergyleds.com about an hour ago, he said he was goig to clean it up and have it shipped out by monday.
The bad thing is I cant have it till christmas but whatever, I just have to get another 100 bucks and I can make my order on hornblasters.com for the OBA, solinoid, a phycoblasters, and a T-shirt. I heard there was a discount for being on this fourm, is that true?

I wouldnt recommend submerging them but you also said you were getting the truck lifted so I dont suspect you will have a problem after that, but until you get it lifted, I dont see them lasting long if you submerge them. Your truck either. lol

Yeah I abuse the truck a little bit but she takes it. Im not ganna submerge the horn so I will just unbolt it if I do anything crazy.

What kind of oba system, size air line, and vlave you plan on getting?

Im getting the 540 kit from HB.

Im going to use 1/2" ID for the K3 and 5/16" ID for the psychoblasters. Also the 1/2" hornblasters electric solinoid.

What kind of fittings does everyone use?
I think compression fittings would be best but what is everyone elses opinion on this?

Cool man sounds good. If you plan on doing some long honks with them I would think about getting a bigger tank, but if your doing just short honks no problem with the 5 gallon tank. I used compression fittings on my system and they are solid.

Right now im at my limit with the 5 gallon tank money wise because of the $500 k3 but later on I am planning on getting another 5 gallon and conecting them and buying another compressor.
Anybody know how long it takes for the 540 kit to recharge the tank?

Yeah, don’t submerge them. Most water in mudholes has grit in it from the mud and it will eventually wear the nozzles on the horn as well as the cushion ring. As long as you don’t honk it with mud in it and you take it off and clean it out really good, it’ll be fine.
