Hi guys. I’m not new to train horns had i ve had my setup for 3yrs now started out with HB4H (shockers) then got a good deal on some old K3L(Canadian tuned) Airchime. Have them on a 5gal tank and a Air Zenith compressor.
what they looked like when i bought them. The small horn was the only one that worked. The other two had so much diesel grime and the dirt in the horns they wouldn’t chime.
So i took them all apart and started cleaning them with AirCraftRemover to take the old paint off works well takes about 3 coats tho.

i checked the tag tag before i began it had altready been gone lol guess it had been worn off by the tain company who serivced them before cause i wiped the tag off with a rag before i began lol i had to ask the guy at nathan airchime how old he said that it was common because mine were sand cast. the train company must have used a sand blaster to take clean them up and it took the lettering off the tag too. oh well they still sound great for as old as they are. Just a fyi if anybody ever rebuilds a set of these or K5LA make sure u clean the small little pin holes out off the Back Cap that say Airchime it helps allow the diaphragm move inside the horns. The diaphragm can also be flipped around if need be if the front side is worn a little bit.
