Hey all, I was referred here by one of your own, 06Z71SILVY. I own a 2009 Hummer H3T which I have owned since October of 2008. Awesome truck, and one of the first installs I did was the train horn kit. I am currently running the Shocker XL’s and I love them. Powered by dual Viair 480c’s and backed up by a 19 gallon air tank. I do a good amount of off roading, so compressed air is a great thing to have on the trails. I am very familiar with forums so I know pictures are wanted. I look forward to getting new ideas from the site!
Glad ya signed up! I see if your future a set of airchimes after seeying and hearing some of the awesome installs on here!
When you get a chance post up some exterior pics of the truck. It is truly eye candy!
I started a new thread in the “Your Ride” section, but I will get a few up in here too. I’m sure I will learn a lot from the people here, and that’s a great thing.
It was painted. I did that with a rattle can and caran wrap. I used adhesive paper for the letters and painted over them. Then I took the letters off to reveal my screen name.
Welcome! Be aware that Viair has a 5 gallon waranty limit per compressor. I know in most cases they’re just topping off the tank but it’s something you should know.
I didn’t know that, but thanks! I did plan on getting another dual pack because they do take a little bit to top it off, but they are doing great right now. When they were filling the previous setup, they were really quick.
Oh, I knew this was going to be a bad idea… One more site that is going to get me to spend money. I think that is the only intent of online forums… LOL! I will have to look into them first though… I know they are expensive.
LMAO, When i signed up on here i still had my cheapie chrome siege horns… Then i upgraded to shockers and now nathan and shockers… Forums do that stuff to ya!
Oasis are expensive but the old you get what you pay for kicks in here… but i thought i heard they put out so much cfm that you can run tools right off the compressor and dont need a holding tank, lol. That shows the power of them.
It’s just, saving up that kind of coin for one is a task. That is pretty impressive though. I am a very firm believer of that saying. I have had it happen too often to ignore it. I started out with the siege kit too in my car. I paid $175 for the whole kit and I though that was a lot back then! After sitting down and looking at the amounts I paid for the current setup, I could have had an oasis compressor! If only I knew then…
They can run a 1/2" impact from just a 25 to 50 foot hose. There’s enough volume and pressure in the hose to run it for 2 seconds before it slows down. That’s enough to loosen most lug nuts and the hose gets recharged in the time it takes to move the impact to next nut. Just one of our compressors will fill 20 gallons from 0 to 150 psi in 3.5 minutes.
They typically draw 150 to 160 amps with a peak of 180. You’ll need a realy good deep cycle battery but avoid Optima (from customer testimonies). Use AGM batteries like Odyssey (they also make the Sears Platinum which costs less), Deka, Lifeline, Kinetic, Trojan, XS Power, etc… That way the battery does most of the work. One of those brands, size group 31, 100 AH, that delivers 1150 CCA, can run the compressor for 10 minutes before the voltage drops and the compressor slows down.
Well that’s not cool… I’m running a dual yellow top setup under the hood. :D. I have a dual mount. It would be something to consider down the road though… I am trying to stop putting money into the truck. I’m working on my bike now. Always keeping it interesting!
Only other battery i would buy is a diehard platinum since they are made by odyssey.
I hear you on not trying to put $ into the truck anymore. My last big purchase was my Bakflip tonneau. I got it at a great price but still almost $700
I’m going to need new tires somewhere in the near future, but not yet. I still have about 10/32nds which should get me through next winter. The tires I am running are $400 a piece now plus shipping. I think it’s time to start searching for different, but they are made in America and they look really aggressive. Plus they are noisy.
