New guy in FLA

I have been lurking for a while, I just got a commuter train horn and was curious to see what was entailed to install it on my Ram. Looks like you have some very creative and smart people on this forum. I look forward to posting pics of the install.

Dave

Welcome to the forum. Yeah looking forward to seeing pics of this thing.

You’ll have a few decisions to make - like how much honk time you want (tank size), what pressure you want to run in your tank, manual valve or solenoid valve.

But Hornblasters can get you set up with an air package.

Thanks, I just bought a 10 gallon tank from a semi truck now just need a compressor and air valve.

Welcome. Pics are always appreciated. If you go with Viair or Air Zenith, you’ll need 2 compressors for 10 gallons or you void the warranty.

welcome to the forums.

Dave,

Welcome to the forums!

Is your Ram a Hemi or a Cummins? I just did my '08 3500 QCLB this past summer and I love it.

Kris

It’s got a Hemi dude! Dan what about the DC 5000 or 7500 are they better for the bigger tank instead of dual compressors?

Thanks for the info and warm welcome guys!

Nah man, you’ll still need to run duals for 10 gallons if you want to keep any kind of warranty.

I’m running an OB2 and 5 gallons, and I’m already looking at 12 gallons and an XD. I need to call Garrett, too.

Kris

I’m leery about any Airbagit product. If you check their website, the compressors are cheap Chinese knock offs of Viair, Gast, ARB, Extreme Air, etc… They’ve had that reputation for all of their products.

It’s hard to say if any of the other small compressors have the same 5 gallon restriction because none of the website mention that in their warranty. They use terms like “This warranty does not cover abuse or operation in a manner inconsistent with the product’s design” or “improper use will void this warranty.”

Interesting I have read a few reviews of the DC5000 everything seemed to be positive. I guess for now I will have to just have to use the garage compressor for now. Thanks for all the info guys!

airbagit is a joke… dont ever order from them

Thanks Scaredu, I agree but didn’t want to be that blunt.

i wanna be straight forward with these guys… tell it how it is…

I appreciate the honesty, I don’t know much about on board air. I normally built Hot Rods and air bags are a fairly new option in that market as well. So I am hearing that with my 10 gallon tank I should go with something like dual 480c’s? I only need 120psi to run the horns.

yeah u can do dual 480s but then just switch ur pressure switch to something lower…

Or you can run 200psi in the tank and use a regulator.
Just giving you options. It would add a little honk time.
