Found this at a military surplus junk yard for $30, pulled it off of a Deuce and a half. Anyone that’s ever heard a deuce’s horn knows the awesome high pitched sound these things have! Can’t wait to get them painted and looking good again. Once I stripped the (I believe) lead based paint I was surprised to see one trumpet is stainless steel and the other seems to be aluminum. I did some digging on the MFG of these horns, Sparton, seems they have closed their doors many years ago but stopped producing horns many years before they closed down.
More pics and a vid of the finished product is coming shortly! Just placed my order from HB for some airline and valve, only went with 1/4" since that’s what it used on the deuce.
Thanks!! Here they are all painted up, i don’t quite like how the red has an orange-ish tint to it but oh well. Valve and airline are on there way and should be here by Thursday next week. Then I will get a video up. 12 gallons of air should give me lots of honking time with these haha
I just used spray paint, I believe rustolium. If you look at the picture into the bell where the shadow is, I got about another inch past that shadow painted… Just did a few quick shots up into there and it seemed to work real well.
Not sure if powder coating would give you better results.
Well got everything installed today and found out 1/4" tubing is too small, I must admit I didn’t realize how small it is, all the horn does is squeal for a few seconds then one side will sound sorta horn-ish lol. Will upgrade to 3/8 and report back. Live and learn I guess haha
