new install started

Well I cut down 1/2line to horns, made it about 18 inches shorter, took all blackcaps off and inspected all seats and gaskets and diaphragms, all looked good, only have 1 diaphragm per bell and might get a dual in there soon, gonna test horn in a little while and see if anything helped, cross the fingers lol, also ordered a 110/150 switch to get pressure down. From what I have readI am gettn wicked chiff and then they blow

Ok seems like making airline shorter made squeal worse,I wll post a sound clip this afternoon and see if anyone can tell me what’s goin on

Sounds like all 3 bells.
It’s unlikely that something is wrong with all 3 of them. You mentioned that they are clean & fresh, but they can be worn & remachined…possibly incorrectly or too many times.

But anyway, they’re all doing it so I’m leaning towards total flow or pressure.
You ordered a 150psi pressure switch, but you can let some air out of your tank and try it. You could also try a ball valve…

Are all your fittings 1/2"? Any restrictions?

Maybe you’ll have to try the dual diaphram setup.

Not to laugh at your expense, but they kind of sound like a donkey/a$$ in the video! sorry- heee-haw

I am using 1/2 fittings and compression fitting on horn, all the 1/2 inch quick connects are from horn blasters and all have a little steel fitting in side that air line slips over kinda like the feral on a compression fitting, so i have 3 of those plus a standard compression fitting on the horn, dont know if that type of fitting can cause a restriction or not. Ill take a new vid with shorter airline, horns do blow a little quicker after squeal now

Seems like if you removed airline length and it helped, they’re not getting enough air.

If the compression fitting’s I.D. is any smaller that the PTC fittings’ I.D., then it is a restriction.

You seemed pretty sure in an earlier post that the valve is opening correctly, so IDK.

A pressure gauge would help. This is all about eliminating pieces of the puzzle.

Both the ptc and compression have a feral that fits inside the air line
so i guess feom tank to horns the line is choked, i am gonna get some
Diff ptc fittings and see if they are culprit

I have some of the 1/2" ptc fittings from hornblasters.
If yours are the same, the metal sleeve that fits inside the airline is ~very~ thin…
…but I don’t know about the compression fitting. Maybe check that thing out.

If i remember the compression sleave is thicker
than the ones in ptc, i will post a pic, have one not installed

My neighbor loves the donkey sound lol, i am hoping its not
a machining issue

Ok got to work on finding problem, took an ailine from my dads system and hooked to my horn, it sounded great, did it in reverse and his horn thru my system sounded great. It turns out my airline from sollenoid to horn was at to much of a radius bend and it was retricting the airflow to much. Still have a chiff but horn is way louder and i can live with the chiff for now. At least it does not sound like a wounded donkey anymore lol

Haha what does your neighbor think noooow? lol

He still like the way it was but I scared the hell out of him today and he laughed his a$$ off lol

p3 pic, anyone know where i can get a P3 and P5 bell to make it a P5

I did not post how I ran it, got a relay off #4 upfitter to honk horn with steering wheel button, useing #3 up fitter to supply 12v to pressure switch, o gauge wire from batt to compressor, all run in split loom for a clean install, have not really taken any pics but I will this weekend and post them.

Nice install! I have mine on my carrier bearing bracket for my F350 pointing forward.
