New, looking for opinions!

Hello, I am wanting to get a set of horns. Here is my situation. I have found one person I can get a K3 for 450 shipped and refurbished. Or, I found a guy that can get me a P3 or K5 for shipping, I would half to rebuild them if I didnt like the sound of them. I like the sound of the K3s but not so much the P3s. and I was planning on getting a 5 gal tank and a compressor form hornblasters.com. Seems like if I get the K5s I would need a bigger tank and 2 compressors. I would love to hear from some ford F150 guys with the 04-08 model trucks, and how they installed them. Thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome. I’m not well versed in the horn department.

The number of compressors and tanks will depend on how often you plan to use the horns and how long each blast will be. It’s nice to plan ahead but you can always add a tank and compressor or upgrade to a more powerful compressor.

are the k5 the same price? just u have to rebuild?
and can u afford the larger tank?
hmm those prices arent bad…

Am I reading that right - a K5 for just the cost of shipping? Or is that 450 + shipping?

Ya you are reading right. Eather a K3 for 450 shipped or a P3 or K5 that has been taken right off a train for the cost of shipping. I know they are not hot. The guy I talked to about them is a friend and explained how he gets them. Don’t want to give too much info. But I know for a fact they are not stolen.
But if I get the K5s it will be right off a train. Will I half to rebuild it and if so, how hard is it to rebuild one? I am not real interested in the P3s because they don’t have the initial pop a K series horn seems to have. And with the K3s those are from another guy and already rebuilt. I can save up to do whatever but I don’t want to have a tank or two and compressor(s) in the bed of my truck. I want everything under the truck.

I agree about the P3.
You’re right though - 8-10 gallons for a K5 - which dictates a couple compressors.
Restoring them just takes time & elbow grease. There’s no rocket science to the diaphrams and cushions. You just might need to flip them. Worst case replace them.

I dont mind replacing them, If I am right hornblasters.com sales the kits for one horn ( 2 diaphragms and cushion) for 50 bucks? would I be able to run just one 5 gal tank till I could afford a 2nd tank and compressor?

Yeah, $45 each horn.
You can always upgrade later when you want more honk time…errrrrr get tire of waiting. lol

It supost to be comming off a train only after a year of use. So it shouldn’t sound bad right?

where ru from? u can determine the type of weather u had for past yr… but a yr isnt bad at all…

Seriously can get in on that deal!? LOL i know i know, everybody would want that kind of a deal.
Does that guy have an Nathan M5 horn he might want to get rid of:)?

By the way, I’d definitely go with the cheaper route, get that K5!
