New Member for New Jersey

Hello, First of all I would like to thank the moderators and one of the members. I contacted to get my account activated. Something must have went crazy while registering. Ok. Here I go. My name is John and I have been collecting and restoring horns for quite a few years. I have pretty big collection consisting of Nathan/Airchime, Leslie, Prime, Wabco, Also I have a large collection of steam whistles too. I am A member on other Horn sites. I have noticed alot of members names from those sites and some of the diesel truck sites I belong to also. I’m presently working on installing a new set up on my new truck. partly my old set up and new on this truck. It will be using 2 viair 450C compressors, 2 slimline 5 gallon tanks. A port for my K5la and the main horn will be the black horns which you all know as the Shocker horns. My current project is making. A five chime horn set up using five of the horns, cut and tuned to a Airchime M-5 chord. I’m almost finished have to do a little tweaking and tuning. So sorry for being long winded. Looking foward to meeting some of you.

Thanks,

John

A big Rainy welcome to the forum from a wet & rainy UK…

I’m liking the whistles alot!!! I so want one badly!!! but have just upgraded from S4 Shockers to a set of K3’s… (soon to be dispatched from Hornblasters) So my money tree has been picked clean!!!:frowning:

Welcome to the forum. What whistles do you have ?

A few I have made myself. Some Lunkeheimers from 2 " to 6’ in width. A few crosbys, a few D&M whistles etc in various sizes. Big ones are single note hooters a 5 chime, Southern 3 chime.

Great collection ! I love the sound of some of those whistles. When you made your whistles, did you make them from PVC Plastic pipe or ??

Made one from pvc the other two from 6" pipe. I have plans if you want them. to make whistles from PVC.

Really !
I would like that. What do I have to do to get the plans?? I understand these whistles use A ton of air,I guess I’ll have to put A 60 gallon tank on mt truck. LOL

To fill 60 gallons you’ll need a total of 12 Viairs or 1 Oasis. The Oasis can fill it to 150 PSI in 10.5 minutes.

damn thats fast!! how many amp draw that thing dan?

I believe the Oasis draws. Anywhere form 90 to 180 amps. Depending on what voltage compressor you choose to use. Dan should be able to clarify for you. When I say 6" mean a 6" circumference and about 18-20 inches tall and about 40lbs. Made form steel pipe. I have plans for a 6 chime pvc whistle, 4" Pvc whistle, And a 2" single hooter whistle all to be blown on 40 to 60 lbs of air pressure. One of the plans make a whistle like in this video.
