Hey there my name is Nick i figured id introduce myself. Im from maryland. Im extremely new to train horns on a truck application however im fortunate enough to work for the railroad as a machinist (a locomotive mechanic). All our loco’s save the old yard engines use the K5LA’s and let me tell you they are LOUD. i have seen guys get in alot of trouble for letting them rip inside the shop. And before you ask, there is NO WAY i can procure a set of horns. there’s cameras, too many bosses and we dont really replace the horns unless they get hit by a tree branch or something (not very often).
I have PLENTY of questions for you guys as im fairly new to running horns. I drive an 04 dodge ram with 35x12.50 tires so theres really no practical use of the spare tire anyway. So thats where i was planning on putting my set up. Ive done some searching and found the K3 would probably be the best/ most cost effective horn to buy. So I buy the horn. Where do i go from there? i need a compressor and a tank…wire and pipe it all up and im ready to go? I have a feeling theres much more to it than that…
Thanks for any help,
Nick
