Just got my first set of train horns, and think I have a problem.
First thing that arose during the install was the check valve on the compressor line was froze shut… they sent me out a new one, got it this week.
Oh, I have a Shocker 240.
In the mean time, while I was waiting on the new check valve, I figured I’d just turn the system on, and fire the horns off to see what it sounded like.
I put a switch on the compressor, and also (as should be), one on the air valve. With the air valve off, I turned on the compressor… the horns started blowing. What’s up with that?
Is something wrong with the air valve? Or does the check valve need to be in? Doesn’t seem like it should, just for a test.
Anyway, anyone have any ideas?
Oh, I figured this would be an easy install on a F350 Crew Cab long bed dually… but it is hard to find room to put four horns. LOL I ended up putting the compressor and tank in the bed, under the tool box.
I think I know exactly what your problem is… Turn the valve round!!! I have had that before, the horns will let out a low pitch tone as the compressor is pumping. There is an arrow on the valve, I’m almost certain this is your problem.
Cool, go try it, I connected mine up and the horns starting making noise, so I scratched my head and then noticed an arrow on the casting. I hope this works for you:D
