Hey guys I am not exactly new to this forum, but have recently decided to become active!
I am not sure what my horn was called back in the day, but I had 4 black horns, a 3 gallon air tank, 5/16 air lines, a 170psi valve (i think), and a 200 psi viair compressor.
So what kit would this have been, because I now see that hornblasters has seemed to downgrade from their once 200psi kits to 150 compressors?
My kit back in the day was also 550 and looked to have been more bang for the buck than the current kits that are 650 bucks…
Should I just build my own this time?
I want a 200 psi compressor with a 217 max valve and at least 3/8 lines everywhere if not 1/4 and a switch that cuts off at least at 175psi +
What do you guys think?
Thanks!
Hi & welcome back to the forum:D
I can only assume the Horns were Shockers?
200psi compressors & Pressure switches are here

Why dont you go for a set of K3’s -K5’s?
Why do you want to run such high pressures?
Welcome back to the forum. And yes it sounds like you had the shocker kit. But for the price you could get a set of K3’s with a little searching around and putting your own setup together because, i have about 650 in my setup with dual 380c, 8.5gal tank, and a K3.
Well you tell me… I loved my old horn just the way it was, but it wasn’t loud enough for me! It was super loud but I wanted louder, haha! I think all that it needed was upgraded air lines from 5/16s to 3/8s and a higher switch and valve.
I naturally want higher pressure because I am under the assumption that the higher the pressure the louder the blast haha?
My budget for this project is 500ish.
What do y’all recommend for that amount? I don’t have room for a 8 gallon tank. My 3 gallon was fine for me, but I would be inclined to go a little bigger.
Thanks!
How much louder is k3 than the shocker series?
What would u recommend me then? My budget is in the 500s. I want the loudest sound possible, but I did LOVE the sound that the shockers produced!
Hey welcome back. The tone is a personal preference, but a K3 would be the loudest. And 5 gallons would be ok. Also no need to run 200psi.
So if you can fit them and maybe save a little more money, you’d be GTG.
A K3 is noticably louder than the shockers. When i honked my shockers next to a K3 the K3 seemed to have drowned out my shockers.
Shockers are still great horns and for the price you cant beat them. But if you have dont mind saving up a little more for a K3 you wont be let down after the first time you honk the K3!!! But K3’s need a minimum of 5gal tank.
200 PSI will make your horns louder but also distorted. K3’s are loud enough at their recommended pressure.
Though the quality of video is rubbish, here is a short vid of three out of four set’s of Horns I have owned.
Firstly you will hear a set of Seige 3’s (my first ever horns and I gave em to a buddy of mine.
Secondly, are my first ever shockers I owned and installed on a MR2
Thirdly are my K3’s - Totally annihilating the other two sets!!!
