Welcome to the forum! The Shocker horns in that kit are about as close to authentic as you can get and they’re loud enough @ 125 to 150 psi. Some people use a higher pressure to be louder but it can also distort their sound and possibly damage their diaphrams. I’m not horn savy but others here are.
Most people want to go cheap with air compressors and they’re ok for horns but for farm use consider our Oasis air compressors. They are power hungry, require oil maintenance, and aren’t cheap but when maintained they’ll out perform and outlast all other 12V compressors. You can find them in Hornblaster’s air compressor section.
I say, similar to Bryan, but keep the Shockers, buy some K5’s, get two new 444c compressors (or a nice new Oasis pump as Dan said)to fill a 8.5gallon tank & then you are good to go!
Thank you all on the help. I love hearing my horns. Just got to get this back on my rig. Also, do I need a manual valve, or should I just hook them up to my factory horn button?
I just completed my install, used an SMC valve wired on a toggle switch, Cost about $100 for the brass valve + kit (connectors & tubing), toggle switch and some wiring.
I installed 2 OB2 compressors and a 5 gal tank and wouldn’t go any smaller than that. The two OB2 compressors work well, they fill the tank in about 30 secs from about 130 psi to 190.
I still have a regulator I want to tie in to get the pressure right around 150 to the horns, might do that tomorrow.
The horns ‘Nathan K3’ are everything I’d hope for, they actually bring a few tears to my eyes. I’ve been planning for a while and now that they are working its pretty special. They sound excellent and are VERY LOUD, especially when you blast them off and there is a building in the distance.
